Here's a guide on how to complete trailblazers in Forza Horizon 6.

Trailblazers are one of the most challenging PR Stunts in Forza Horizon 6, asking you to reach a finish gate as quickly as possible while choosing your own route. Unlike normal races, there is no fixed track to follow, so knowing where to drive and which car to use can make a huge difference.

This guide explains how Trailblazers work, how to unlock them, the best cars to use, and the most effective ways to earn three stars.

What are Trailblazers in Forza Horizon 6?

Trailblazers are point-to-point time challenges scattered across the map of Japan. Each event has a starting gate and a finish gate, and your goal is to reach the finish with as much time remaining as possible.

How Trailblazers Work

Once you drive through the start gate, the timer begins. You are free to choose your own route to the finish, meaning you do not necessarily need to stay on roads or follow a marked racing line.

The terrain can include dirt, grass, forests, hills, rivers, beaches, and other off-road sections. Because of this, simply choosing the fastest road is rarely the best strategy.

Trailblazers award up to three stars depending on how much time you have left when you cross the finish gate.

How to Unlock Trailblazers

Trailblazers become available as you progress through Forza Horizon 6 and earn higher Wristband tiers.

Progress Through the Horizon Festival

If you cannot find a Trailblazer on your map, you may simply not have unlocked it yet. Completing the relevant Festival progression and earning Wristbands gradually opens additional PR Stunts.

The Trailblazers are also spread across different areas of Japan, so some events become available later than others.

Find Trailblazers on the Map

The easiest way to locate them is to open the map and use its filters. Turn off the other event types and leave Trailblazers enabled. This removes much of the map clutter and makes the available challenges much easier to spot.

Best Cars for Trailblazers

The best Trailblazer car is generally one that can maintain speed away from paved roads while remaining stable over rough terrain.

What to Look For

Prioritize these characteristics:

  • Strong acceleration
  • Good off-road grip
  • Stable handling
  • High ground clearance
  • Enough top speed for longer sections
  • Good control over jumps and uneven terrain

A pure road-focused hypercar can struggle when the route takes you through grass, dirt, rocks, or forests. Off-road-capable vehicles are usually much easier to control and can carry their speed through difficult sections.

For particularly rough Trailblazers, consider an off-road build rather than simply picking the car with the highest top speed.

How to Get Three Stars in Trailblazers

Getting three stars is mostly about route choice and momentum, rather than simply driving faster.

Build Momentum Before the Start

The timer starts when you pass through the starting gate, so approach it with as much speed as possible. A long run-up can give you valuable momentum without costing any extra time on the clock.

Plan Your Route

Before committing to a serious attempt, look at the terrain between the two gates. Your route does not have to follow the road, and cutting across open ground can save a significant amount of time.

You can also set the finish as a destination so you have a clearer idea of where you need to go during the run.

Use Rewind

Do not be afraid to use Rewind. A single collision with a tree, wall, rock, or other obstacle can cost enough time to ruin a three-star attempt.

If you find a fast route but make one major mistake, rewind and try the same section again instead of restarting the entire challenge.

Common Trailblazer Mistakes to Avoid

Trailblazers become much easier once you stop treating them like conventional races.

Staying on the Road

The most common mistake is following the road simply because it looks like the obvious route. Trailblazers are designed around route freedom, and the fastest path is often across dirt, grass, or open terrain.

Using the Wrong Car

A high-performance road car may have excellent acceleration and top speed, but it loses that advantage when it hits rough terrain. Choose a car that matches the environment rather than relying solely on its performance rating.

Entering the Start Gate Slowly

Arriving at the starting gate without enough speed wastes an opportunity. Build up speed before entering whenever the surrounding terrain allows it.

Taking Too Many Risks

Shortcuts are useful, but hitting obstacles repeatedly will erase the time you saved. Look for a route that is both fast and reasonably clean.

Final Thoughts

Trailblazers in Forza Horizon 6 are less about following a perfect racing line and more about understanding the terrain, picking the right car, and finding an efficient route between the two gates.

If you are struggling to earn three stars, start by learning the route without worrying about the timer. Once you know where the major obstacles and shortcuts are, return with an off-road-capable car, build speed before the start gate, and use Rewind whenever a mistake costs too much time.

With the right vehicle and a little route planning, even the tougher Trailblazers become much more manageable.
