Gas Guzzlers: Combat Carnage is yet one more of those titles pitching for the vehicular combat genre, after releases of Twisted Metal, Smash ‘n’ Survive, Wheels of Destruction and Ridge Racer Unbounded already came around in the same window this year. As you can see, that’s a hefty amount of competition to plow through. Luckily for the game, it’s a PC exclusive, which only gives it a direct link to Ridge Racer. Still, it’s going to need to bring the goods if it wants to make a name for itself.

Unfortunately, it currently has a bunch of issues that might prevent this otherwise beautifully presented title from reaching that goal. Issues include slippery controls, annoying voice over and a lack of accuracy. The good bullet points include alternative weaponry for either front or back attacks and visually stunning details (even if those require stronger setups).
