You can play Gotham Knights in co-op, but online features do not activate immediately. The game requires you to complete an early tutorial section before you can invite others or join their sessions. The system explains when these features become available once you reach the required point.

When Co-op Unlocks

Co-op access begins after you finish your first night patrol in Gotham City. This patrol is tied to whichever character you choose after the opening scenes. You must complete this on the first night before online features become available.

After the patrol ends, the game moves you into the Belfry during the day. You must complete the assigned tasks inside the base before heading back out at night. Once these tasks are done, co-op becomes fully accessible in Gotham Knights.

Using the Social Wheel

After multiplayer unlocks, you can open the Social Wheel by pressing Left on the D-Pad or pressing C on PC. This menu lets you adjust online privacy options immediately. The Social Wheel also includes shortcuts for the game’s photo mode and the emote menu.

You can also open the pause menu to reach the full Social and Multiplayer menus. These options remain locked until you gain daytime access to the Belfry, which usually occurs within the first hour unless you spend extra time exploring during the initial patrol in Gotham Knights.

Inviting Friends

Once the menus unlock, the Social menu lets you invite friends, accept invitations, join other sessions, block players, and manage general online interactions. The Multiplayer menu allows you to enter random sessions through matchmaking in Gotham Knights.

Additional Features

Completing the tutorial night not only enables co-op but also allows you to switch characters and access more gameplay and customization functions inside the Belfry. Completing these early tasks expands the options available to patrols across Gotham City.
