While exploring the mysterious lands of Pharloom, you'll come across many valuable things that will help you on your way.
Knowing what each item does and where to obtain it will be crucial for your survival, from tracking tools to safety gear. This guide provides information on all the essential Gear you can purchase, its intended uses, and where to find it in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
Navigation and Mapping Tools
If you want to explore the vast areas of Pharloom, you need the right Navigational Gear. The Map and Quill is your primary tool for surveying, and it instantly adds new areas you discover when you rest on benches or other safe locations. You can get this vital pair from Shakra after buying any Map and a Quill.
The Quill costs 50 Rosaries and can be bought from Shakra in the upper left corner of The Marrow during your first meeting with him in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Shakra's tribe hunted the Golpeni from which these Quills come. The hollow shafts of these Quills make them great for mapping out territories.
When traveling through winding regions, the Compass is invaluable for finding your way. This bone guide can be bought from Shakra at the place where you first meet in The Marrow for 70 Rosaries.
Regional Maps
Different parts of Pharloom are depicted on several detailed Maps. The Marrow Map, which costs 50 Rosaries, shows the crumbling roads formed from old bug shells and serves as the basis of all Pharloom.
This Map can be purchased from Shakra at your first meeting, located in the upper left corner of The Marrow in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
The Mosslands Map, which can be purchased from Shakra at the exact location for 40 Rosaries, shows the overgrown caves that aren't too challenging if you are an experienced fighter.
The Deep Docks Map, which costs 50 Rosaries and reveals the actual size of the buildings hidden beneath the molten lake, allows you to delve deeper into the world. Shakra will sell this to you when you meet them at Deep Docks, which is east of The Marrow in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Map Markers and Pins
You can mark essential spots on your Maps with different types of Pins. Shell Markers and Ring Markers both cost 40 Rosaries and let you mark important places or things to remember. Shakra will sell you Shell Markers at your first meeting, and you can buy Ring Markers when you meet him at Deep Docks.
Along the gold-filled veins that used to be travel paths across the land, bellway Pins mark the places where people could rest in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
You can get these from Shakra at Deep Docks for 60 Rosaries each. Bench Pins, which cost 60 Rosaries each, mark safe places to camp and rest. You can buy them from Shakra during your first meeting.
Vendor Pins cost 80 Rosaries and indicate the location of Pharloom businesses. To keep track of trade chances, you can buy these from Shakra at Deep Docks.
Currency and Trade Items
Rosary Strings keep your loose Rosaries safe and organized so you don't lose them while you're traveling. You can get these from the shop at Bonebottom for 80 Rosaries. You can find Frayed Rosary Strings all over the Map. Each one contains 30 rosaries that can be broken and traded.

During your trip, the Magnetite Brooch makes it easier for you to find Rosaries. This beautiful stone can be bought from the shop at Bonebottom for 120 Rosaries in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
Equipment and Protective Gear
When you start your journey, you are given two things by default: the Hunter's Cloak and the Tool Pouch. The Hunter's Cloak is made of expertly woven, yet worn-out, fabric that provides basic protection, and the Tool Pouch is designed to carry Tools, Traps, and Crafting Materials.
Mask Shards are pieces of carefully made, larger items that can be used for extra defense. You can purchase these from the shop at Bonebottom for 300 Rosaries, which is a considerable amount of money, but they are said to bring you luck on your journeys.
Crafting Materials and Resources
Craftmetal is a rare element that can be found naturally in the rock and bone of Pharloom. You must utilize this material to create a variety of tools and other items. Craftmetal can be bought from the shop at Bonebottom for 60 Rosaries in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
Mossberries grow naturally in damp places, and you can find them in the starting area. You can eat these sweet fruits, but most animals are unable to handle their seeds, so be cautious with them in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Special Items and Keys
The worn seals on the Choral Commandments show how old they are and show that they are orders from the Citadel. There are many of these all over the Map, including one on a rock in the upper part of Bonebottom.
From the shop at Bonebottom, the Simple Key costs 500 Rosaries. This key resembles any other, but it is likely to originate from the Citadel. It may grant you access to sacred places or important passages as you explore Pharloom in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
