MLS First Kick 2009

Tonight marked the kickoff of the 2009 Major League Soccer season, the league's 14th. It featured the expansion Seattle Sounders FC hosting the New York Red Bulls, last year's MLS Cup runner-up. In front of over 30,000 people, Seattle shut out New York 3-0 and became only the second expansion side to win their first game.

 

My favourite team, Toronto FC, plays their first game in Kansas City on Saturday night. It should be exciting, Toronto has greatly improved since last season. They loaded up on scoring talent and should be playoff-bound this year.
