Modern Warfare 2: First Look

Modern Warfare 2 (yes it’s dropped the Call of Duty bit) is one of the most anticipated titles of the year, and in light of a new teaser trailer the hype surrounding the game is now reaching exceptional levels. Gamers have been speculating about every last detail featured in the video, from returning characters to the main environments the game is set to take place in.

Well, according to early reports coming from people who have gotten their hands on an early copy of the June issue of Game Informer; some of those questions have been answered. Apparently the game will take place primarily in icy conditions, possibly Russia, who are one of the main protagonists in the story.

Sergeant “Soap” MacTavish will make his return, but several years after Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare; has now been promoted to captain of the Special Air Service, and is set to lead a unit of elite commandos into the heat of battle, with the main threat coming from a group of Russian terrorists.

The biggest disappointment seems to be the lack of a cooperative single-player campaign, something that was also absent from the last game in the series, Call of Duty: World at War. However, there will be a Special Forces mode featured, which is apparently comparable to the Mile High Club mission that was tagged onto the end of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. This will be the only mode that will allow two people to play the game simultaneously,

The game is set for release November 10th.
