In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Mega Evolutions return, allowing several Pokémon to temporarily transform in battle. One such Pokémon is Ampharos, which can Mega Evolve into Mega Ampharos, changing its type from Electric to Electric/Dragon.

This guide explains how to obtain Mega Ampharos and its corresponding Mega Stone, the Ampharosite, while also detailing essential information about its characteristics and encounter method.
Acquiring Mega Ampharos
To unlock the ability to use Mega Ampharos, you need to obtain its Mega Stone, Ampharosite. This item is earned by defeating a Rogue Mega Ampharos found in the wild.
Rogue Mega Pokémon are powerful wild Pokémon that can Mega Evolve without the aid of a trainer. They appear as special encounters and are significantly stronger than standard wild Pokémon.
When you engage a Rogue Mega Ampharos, prepare for a more difficult battle than usual.

During these encounters, you will not face the battle alone. You are often assisted by an ally from Team MZ, who joins the fight to help you defeat the Rogue Mega Ampharos.
Once you successfully overcome it, you will receive the Ampharosite, allowing your own Ampharos to Mega Evolve into Mega Ampharos during battle.
Game Data
Mega Ampharos is classified as an Electric/Dragon-type Pokémon. It gains access to enhanced stats and a new appearance after Mega Evolution. Its ability, type combination, and stats change upon transformation, providing a different approach to battle strategy.

Learnset
Like its base form, Mega Ampharos can learn various Electric- and Dragon-type moves. These include both offensive and support-based techniques that allow it to handle a range of opponents.
Training it with moves that complement its dual typing can maximize its effectiveness after Mega Evolution.
