Pokémon Pokopia Guide | How to Use the Dowsing Machine and Find Relic Treasure

Finding Relic Treasure in Pokémon Pokopia is easy once you know how the Dowsing Machine works. The item does not explain much on its own, so the first use can feel a bit strange. The real trick is pairing it with the right Pokémon and then following the signs it gives you. 

Once that setup is ready, you can start tracking buried treasure and breaking into hidden spots for rare rewards.

How to Get the Dowsing Machine

The Dowsing Machine is a special item you can collect from a yellow Poké Ball. To reach it, you need to get to the top area after unlocking Hitmon and breaking through the obstacles there. Once you pick it up, the item goes into your inventory, but it still will not do much until you use it with the correct Pokémon.

Use a Pokémon With the Search Ability

To make the Dowsing Machine work, you need a Pokémon with the Search ability. In this case, Pidgey is the example used. If you open the Pokédex and check Pidgey, you can see that one of its abilities includes Search. That ability is what helps you locate buried treasure.

Once you have Pidgey or another search-based Pokémon, equip the Dowsing Machine and keep it out while exploring. That is the main part of the setup.

How to Find Buried Treasure

After the Dowsing Machine is active, move around and look for a place where your search Pokémon reacts. Press A to make Pidgey use its Search ability. When it detects something nearby, the game will show that there is treasure in the area. That is your sign to move closer and inspect the spot.

Sometimes the treasure may be on slightly raised ground or a hard-to-reach ledge. If that happens, you may need to position yourself better before breaking into the location.

How to Dig Up Relic Treasure

Once the treasure location is marked, switch to Rock Smash and use it at the spot your Pokémon found. That will break the area open and reveal the hidden item. In some cases, you may need to place bricks under yourself first so you can climb up and reach the exact point. After that, use Rock Smash again and collect the reward.

This is how you use the Dowsing Machine to find Relic Treasure and other rare items. When you are done, simply split up with the search Pokémon and continue exploring.
