Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Guide | How to Find Applin and Evolve into Flapple or Appletun
Knock Applin out of a tree early, then use Tart Apple or Sweet Apple to pick your evolution.
Game Guide by Jubair Baky on Feb 25, 2026
Applin is an easy early catch in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, but it does not show up like most wild Pokémon. It hides in trees, so you need to force it to drop. Once you catch it, evolving is simple. You only need the correct Apple item, and you can choose between two different evolutions depending on what you use.
Where To Find Applin Early
Head to the area near the starting Academy, close to the big tree shown on the map. This spot lets you find Applin quickly. Make sure you have the dash move on Koraidon or Miraidon. Then dash straight into the tree.
You need to bump into it with a strong dash so the Pokémon inside falls out. If you hear a sound, keep looking around the base of the tree. Applin should drop nearby and become visible.

How To Catch Applin Fast
Once Applin appears, start the encounter right away and catch it. A Quick Ball is a fast option here. This is also a good time to grab two of them, because Applin has two different evolutions, and each one needs a different apple item. Catching two saves time if you want both forms for your collection.

Where To Get Sweet Apple And Tart Apple
To evolve Applin, go to Delibird Presents in any town. Look for the shop icon and enter the store. Open the General Goods section. You can buy Sweet Apple and Tart Apple here. Some towns even have more than one Delibird Presents, but they sell the same things, so any store works.
If you already have one apple, you can buy the other. These items can also be found in the world, but buying them is the quickest and most reliable method.

How To Evolve Applin Into Two Different Forms
Open your bag and find the apples in the Candy section. Use Sweet Apple on one Applin to evolve it into Appletun. Then use Tart Apple on another Applin to evolve it into Flapple.

The evolution happens immediately after you use the item, so you can finish both evolutions in a minute once you have the apples ready.
