S-Tier Conversions and Finishers

Wrath Of The Gods (unlocked at level 25) — Rating: 5/5

Puzzle-Quest-Immortal-1

Effect: Convert all red gems into skulls, and all blue gems into yellow gems.

Recharge: 1 turn.

Comment: it gives you yellow mana, skulls, 4+ matches, and it can be casted every turn… All right, this is a fantastic spell, as all color gems plus skulls double-converting spells are. It gives so much value that you must use it in any build, no matter the strategy.

Retribution (unlocked at level 30) — Rating: 5/5

Effect: Deal damage equal to half your yellow mana, then halve your enemy’s red mana.

Recharge: 1 turn.

Comment: an impressively strong damage spell. It can be either the main damage source or the finisher, but as long as you fully focus on Air Mastery this is a spell you definitely should use in all builds. Generally, Retribution is better than Smiting Blow. However, when you battle against Undead enemies Smiting Blow is definitely more useful.

Strong Utility And Burst Refuels

Heavenly Feast (unlocked at level 40) — Rating: 4/5

Effect: Remove a chosen gem and fill up the matching colored mana.

Recharge: 7 turns.

Comment: if you go all-in Air Mastery then this spell can give you a lot of yellow mana in an instant. However, by that level you should be able to max yellow mana pretty easily without spending that much mana from all other colors. If you invest heavily in Air Mastery and find yourself struggling to max yellow mana, try this spell. If you focus more on Battle and you have no issues maxing yellow mana, forget about it.

Godstorm (unlocked at level 50) — Rating: 3/5

Effect: Explode all yellow gems.

Recharge: 6 turns.

Comment: spells that explode all gems of a certain type seem strong on paper and are definitely flashy. However, even if the board were perfect and every single gem exploded, on average you would deal 9 damage and earn 9 mana of each color, 9 gold and 9 experience, which is not too impressive given the total mana invested. 

It is strong but not on par with other alternatives. Recommend using it only if you have synergies with gem destruction (such as using the Whip to deal 1 damage for each destroyed yellow gem) or a dedicated skull-destruction build.
