Helms and armors define early survivability, mid-game mana flow, and late-game consistency. The best pieces either multiply skull damage, feed colored mana engines, or passively sustain life and mana every turn. This guide highlights the strongest options, their purchase or forging requirements, and the situations where each shines.

Best Helms

Thief’s Cowl doubles all skull damage while you are Hidden and is the strongest helm by far, especially when paired with the Chameleon Ring. It can be used alone with a researched Hide spell, but relying on the ring is more consistent. You can buy it for 1,225 gold with level 10 or higher in Cunning.

Bloodstone Helm adds +1 to blue and green mana for every 3 red mana earned. It becomes stronger the more red mana you earn, making high Fire Mastery and red-converting spells like Burn and Conflagration excellent partners. It costs 1,000 gold and requires level 6 or higher in Water Mastery.

Bonfire Helm adds +1 to green mana for every 2 red mana earned. Choose it when blue mana is not important and Earth Mastery is higher; it costs 1,230 gold and requires level 13 or higher in Earth Mastery.

Runic Helm adds +2 to life and +2 to all colored mana at the start of your turn if red and yellow are both 16 or more. It excels in long battles provided you maintain those thresholds. It costs 1,500 gold and requires level 15 or higher in Morale.

Collar adds +6 damage for each colored mana that is full when you deal 3 or more skull damage. It is forged with the Rune of Jewels and Rune of Dragons and has the highest damage ceiling, though it competes with heavy spell use.

Best Armors

Woodland Cloak adds +1 green mana for every 3 skull damage dealt. It mirrors the Bloodstone Helm and Bonfire Helm ideas but triggers from skull damage, rewarding green-focused, skull-centric plans, especially with higher Battle and skull conversion. It costs 900 gold with level 3 or higher in Cunning.

Bloodstone Cloak adds +1 to blue and green mana for every 3 red mana earned. It is better than Woodland Cloak if blue mana matters and you lean into Fire Mastery and red matches. It costs 1,000 gold with level 7 or higher in Water Mastery.

Wind Sash grants +10 Air Mastery at the start of battle and +2 yellow mana when you deal 3 or more skull damage. It suits yellow-focused, air builds and costs 1,675 gold with level 10 or higher in Morale.

Runic Cloak adds +2 to life and +2 to all colored mana each turn if green and yellow are both 16 or more. It is a defensive powerhouse for long fights but requires careful mana maintenance. It costs 1,500 gold and requires level 15 or higher in Morale.

Prismatic Armor grants a chance, based on your current mana pools, to add resistance when gaining mana. It becomes valuable when alternative mana gains are frequent and steady; a full build can revolve around its resistance scaling. It costs 2,600 gold with level 20 or higher in Morale.

When to Choose Which

Choose Thief’s Cowl whenever Hidden uptime is reliable; pairing it with Chameleon Ring creates the game’s most dominant physical-damage engine. Use Bloodstone Helm or Bonfire Helm to supercharge red-mana lines that also feed green and blue.

Opt for Runic Helm and Runic Cloak when a passive, sustain-heavy plan is preferred; keep the required colors at 16 or higher to trigger free life and mana every turn. Leverage Woodland Cloak and Wind Sash if skull damage and yellow scaling are central to your build. Consider Collar or Prismatic Armor for specialized high-ceiling setups that reward capped mana or repeated mana gains.
