Remember Remeber The Fith Of Novemeber

So in Celebration of this glorious day. Lets have a small history lesson about this day of yore. For those who have watched the movie and or read the comic books of V for Vendetta, you will be familiar with the catch phrase " Remember Remember The Fifth Of November The Gunpowder Treason and plot". However, little did most of us know that it actually takes after a real story of Guy(Guido) Fawkes the man who almost succeeded in blowing up parliament back in the old English days.
The Gunpowder Plot was established as a plot to in all literal terms, assassinate the King of England; King James I. The plot obviously failed as one of the assassins sent a warning letter to one of his friends in parliament thus alerting them and finding Fawkes as he was about to start the fireworks display. The Plot itself revolved around the fact that good ol James I was going to infact strengthen the punishments and the enforcement of laws in a way that would take power away from the Catholic church. This didnt bode well with some catholic factions . So a group of them banded together and hired good ol Fawkes who was a Catholic Mercenary (Yes, religion was more kick ass back in the day) to help blow up the king and heads of state. By thus completing this plan, the Catholics would be able to ensure that the powers of the King and state would flow right back into them. Anyways, Fawkes was found out, the guilty party tried to flee...and failed...miserably. Fawkes was tortured for a while, eventually he cracked, spoke the plot (didnt matter at that point) was sentenced to be hanged, drawn, and quartered (google it...pretty bad for us guys) ofcourse, he was a brave lad, so during the hanging part, he jumped from the gallow he would be hung at and thus broke his neck thus avoiding further pain and agony from the rest of the public torture. From this day forward, the 5th of november is remembered as Guy Fawkes day. God and Chuck Norris Bless the Fawkes.
Below is a Poem/Nursery Rhyme regarding the incident.
Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
the Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
I see no reason why Gunpowder Treason should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, t’was his intent to blow up King and Parliament.
Three score barrels were laid below to prove old England’s overthrow;
By God’s mercy he was catch’d with a dark lantern and lighted match.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, let the bells ring.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!
Hip hip hoorah!
A penny loaf to feed the Pope
A farthing o’ cheese to choke him.
A pint of beer to rinse it down.
A fagot of sticks to burn him.
Burn him in a tub of tar.
Burn him like a blazing star.
Burn his body from his head.
Then we’ll say ol’ Pope is dead.
Hip hip hoorah!
Hip hip hoorah hoorah!
Oh, and i did memorize that V intro speech i mentioned earlier lol. down to the letter.
