This guide explains the Auto-9 tech tree upgrade system in RoboCop: Rogue City - Unfinished Business, and how to send power through chips to get the most benefits with the least amount of penalties.

This guide breaks down every part of the board and shows you the best ways to play in both the early and late game, whether you're looking for a general outline or want to make your changes.

Understanding the Upgrade Board

Each upgrade board has wires and places where power can enter. Power comes into the chip in certain places and follows lines to the first circuit that is attached. Foreground circuits that are empty show what kind of bonus or punishment they give.

To make sure that the correct circuits receive power, players must change the power routes by rotating and placing chips.

Chip Types and Color Coding

Circuits are color‑coded by effect:

Red Circuits: Provide positive bonuses such as Armor Piercing and Reload Speed, with percentage bonuses depending on chip quality.

Yellow Circuits: Active abilities that force power through connected red circuits, often imposing unavoidable penalties.

Routing Power Effectively

To activate a circuit, power must flow from its entry point into the chip and through the circuit. For example, routing power upward and downward into a Reload Speed circuit grants its bonus if no lateral exits exist.

Splitting power with a four‑way chip can inadvertently route power into negative circuits; careful placement avoids this by disabling unwanted exits.

Managing Penalties

Negative effects appear when power exits into connected penalty circuits. To avoid these, make sure that any exit path leads to an unused junction.

For instance, connecting upward and downward while leaving lateral exits unconnected allows power to flow into the board without triggering penalties. Yellow circuits may force some penalties, so anticipate unavoidable negatives when active chips are linked.

Key Late‑Game Upgrades

In endgame boards, you can get the following high-impact chips:

Auto Reload: Reloads the Auto-9 automatically, so you don't have to do it yourself.

Full Auto: This mode lets you fire continuously, which does a lot more damage.

Auto Feeder: Gives the weapon an unlimited amount of feed, so you don't have to reload.

Ammo Buff: As a result of the Ammo Buff, each magazine can hold more ammo.

Prioritizing these chips yields dramatic improvements in combat efficiency.

Chip Merging Strategy

Chip merging can yield higher quality bonuses, but carries risk:

Players should avoid merging too many identical chips at once, as outcomes are random and may deplete chip reserves.

It is best to acquire a larger board before extensive merging, then experiment when at least five or six spare chips remain. This preserves resources for future boards and prevents shortages during critical upgrades.
