So I just watched Dragonball Evolution

Call me crazy, but I actually kinda liked it. Ok, I don't follow the Drabonball universe, so I barely understand any of it. I do'nt know how true they were to the franchise or anything, so that has zero bearing on my preference of this movie.
So anyway, this movie is far from great. It has some really REALLY bad lines with some lousy action, but at least it's not constantly horrible. It's very hard to describe. Sometimes, the movie is alright, and then it just spits out a really bad line, and moves on again for a while until another bad line is delivered.
But, the action is enjoyable, at least for me. The choreography was pretty awesome. I did enjoy the fight scenes. The special effects were really not that bad at all. I found out that Stephen Chow directed this movie, and now it all makes sense. He has a great style of directing, and I can actually see his signature on it. It's funny in places, and generally entertaining.
The story needed a LOT more work though. Unless I wasn't paying attention, I don't even think they explained how Piccolo got free. Chow Yun-Fat is in this movie, and for the most part, I liked him. Ernie Hudson, though, played a very minor role and I do'nt even understand why he was selected for his part at all.
I guess there are a couple of things going on that allowed me to like this movie. I must have been in a pretty good mood, and rather open-minded. I also am not a Dragonball Z fan, so that means I wouldn't take personal offense to this movie for not turning out the way I wanted. I dunno, I think if you want to see a fun movie that doesn't take it self seriously AT ALL and aren't an uppity Dragonball Z fan, I'd say give this movie a shot.
