Playing games on the Steam Deck may be a lot of fun, but it can be hard to find the right mix between clear graphics and smooth gameplay. You may achieve the best clarity and keep your FPS high by using FSR 4 with lossless scaling. This solution only works with games that support DirectX 11 or 12 and LSS, though.
Getting Started in Desktop Mode
First, change your Steam Deck to desktop mode. Search for the Deo plugin on your browser. Once you discover it, you can download it straight to your Dolphin browser. After you download it, launch Dolphin and find the file you just downloaded. You should see an option to run it when you double-click it. To finish setting up, follow the on-screen steps, which may include inputting your fake password.

Installing the Necessary Plugins
When you're back in game mode, click the three buttons at the bottom right to get to the Deku Loa plugin store. You will need to install two plugins here. The first is the Dei Frame Gen plugin. To install it, just follow the same steps as you would for any other software. The second is the lossless scaling plugin, named Deki LSFGVK.
After installation, you’ll also need to purchase the Lossless Scaling app from Steam for $7, as it is required for this setup to work.
Open the Lossless Scaling plugin and scroll all the way down to find the installation option. If you already have it installed, the option will say "Uninstall." In the same way, open the Deck Frame Gen plugin and scroll down to the bottom to add the Scala mod. If the option is already installed, it will say "Remove."
Configuring Launch Options
Next, you have to copy certain commands. Open the Lossless Scaling plugin again, scroll down to the bottom, and copy the Key Frame Gen instructions and the LSFG command. Then choose the game you wish to improve and examine its properties. Go to the general section and put the commands you copied into the launch options.
To make it work correctly, go to Control Input, find the L4 button, and assign it to the "Insert" key. This step is necessary to make the plugins work in the game.
Activating FSR 4 and DLSS
Start your game and go to the settings. DLSS must be turned on for FSR 4 to work. After you install Optuscala, you can also see the option for FSR 4 in some games. Turn on FSR 4 and click "Accept." Once turned on, the game will have clearer sounds and better graphics.

Using Lossless Scaling for Better FPS
FSR 4 can have a small effect on performance, which is where lossless scaling comes in handy. Set the Lossless Scaling plugin to 2x and enable it. This lets you keep a high frame rate while enjoying the better graphics FSR 4 delivers. This combo hit 60 fps in tests while maintaining great crispness and clarity, making it one of the best ways to play games on the Steam Deck.
Final Thoughts
Many games, such as Spider-Man and Ghost of Tsushima, use this setup. Using FSR 4 and lossless scaling combined will greatly improve your visual experience without slowing down your computer. Give it a try and see for yourself how it works.
