Sunday films Vol.4 : Inside Man

Welcome everyone to the 4th edition of my Sunday films blog. The movie I totaly recommend to all of you this Sunday is "Inside Man", a crime-drama-action-thriller film released in 2006, starring Denzel Washington, Clive Owen, Willem Dafoe and Jodie Foster, directed by Spike Lee.
If I tell you that this movie is about a bank robbery, a hostage situation and negotiations between the Authorities and the robbers, well it doesn't sound too original as a film concept, doesn't it ? So what is so special about it ? Well, I'll let you find out yourself.
In the beginning, we find Clive Owen narrating while he appears to be locked in a cell. A cell ? Well, here's a tip for this film: don't jump to conclusions too fast. He (Clive Owen) is the leader of a gang attempting to rob a bank in Manhattan. In the meantime, police arrives with Detective Keith Frazier (Denzel Washington) starting negotiations with the robbers. But why the robbers aren't in a hurry ? Are they after money or something more valuable is at stake ? And why the bank's chairman is highly concerned about a certain "parcel" ?
The film will really make you wonder many times about who's the good guy and who's the villian in this situation. You will wonder several times what is right and what is wrong, while the robbers and the police will continue to play their cat-and-mouse games.
Quote of the film : Fact is, all lies, all evil deeds, they stink. You can cover them up for a while, but they don't go away.
