When you continue your search for your Aunty after an Owl carries her away in Winter Burrow, you meet Gnawtusk in Shadow Pines.

Gnawtusk struggles to keep track of stored herbs and asks for help locating each stash. Recovering these herbs lets you continue assisting your Aunty, and this guide explains where to find every stash with direct instructions in Winter Burrow.

Crafting the Granite Shovel

Before looking for any stashes, you must create a Granite Shovel using the recipe provided by Gnawtusk. You need Oak Wood, Pine Wood, Granite, and Wool Yarn. After crafting the Granite Shovel, return to Gnawtusk to begin the search for the common herbs.

Gnawtusk’s First Common Herb Stash

To locate the first stash, leave Gnawtusk’s area through the north exit. Move left past the tall grass and enter the next section. Continue south until you reach a shell resting on the snow. A raised patch of ground sits in front of the shell. Use the Granite Shovel to dig and collect the herbs.

Gnawtusk’s Second Common Herb Stash

To reach the second stash, start near Bufo’s House and walk north. Follow the path until you arrive at a clearing with several Pine Trees. One tree has a scarf tangled at its top. Dig the raised ground at the base of this tree to recover the herbs in Winter Burrow.

After collecting them, return to Gnawtusk. At this stage, Gnawtusk gives you a Lantern, which you must equip before entering the dark sections of Shadow Pines.

Gnawtusk’s Third Common Herb Stash

For the third stash, prepare by equipping the Lantern, since the location sits in a dark part of Shadow Pines. Head to the bottom-left exit from Gnawtusk’s area. After entering the next section, move south into the dark until you reach a lit space containing a tree, a bush, and an ant.

Clear the ant using the Axe. From this point, move east into the dark again. You will see a scroll on the ground, followed by a stone with a hole through it, described by Gnawtusk as a witchstone. The scroll holds the Campfire Kit recipe, so you can collect it while passing through. Dig a raised patch in front of the stone to uncover the herbs, then bring them back to Gnawtusk.

Gnawtusk’s Rare Herb Stash

After returning the final set of common herbs, a cutscene plays, and you reappear in your burrow with your Aunty. She is unwell after the Owl encounter, and you must retrieve the last stash to help her recover in Winter Burrow.

The rare herb stash lies inside Aunty’s Backpack, which sits on the ground in your burrow. Open the backpack, move the stash into your inventory instead of your storage, and take it back to Gnawtusk. Gnawtusk gives you medicine for your Aunty, which you should bring to her in your burrow.
