In Winter Burrow, the Flint Axe is a tool you will need as you move through the main story and search for items such as the Mole Artifact. This tool functions differently from the Flint Pickaxe and gives you a way to cut enemies, trees, logs, and vines that block your movement. Gaining access to it requires progress in Moss’ quest line and completing a task for Aunty.

How to Get the Flint Axe

You can get the Flint Axe by completing the mission Cook A Healing Stew For Aunty, which is part of Moss’ quest chain. When you finish this mission, Aunty gives you the crafting recipe for the tool. To reach that point, you must move through several steps in Winter Burrow.

Quest Steps

You begin by finding Moss, who is located north of your burrow. After speaking with them, you start their quests. From there, you search for signs of Pinesap and gather three Snow Fox Fur Tufts. Next, you retrieve the Heavy Key and return it to Moss.

After that, you bring Moss their Old Shawl, which Aunty hands to you during the chain. Then you prepare a Mushroom Stew for Aunty after receiving the recipe from Moss. When you give Aunty the stew, the crafting recipe for the Flint Axe becomes available to you.

Crafting the Flint Axe

Once you get the recipe, you can go to the woodworking bench in your burrow to make the Flint Axe. Crafting requires the following items. You need one Silk Yarn, which you craft from Silk Thread gathered from spiders in Winter Burrow.

You need one Flint, which appears as a Boulder in the northern and eastern parts of the map, with some loose pieces near Bufo’s home. You also need two Birch Wood, collected in the southern region near Willow. Finally, you need one Pine Plank, crafted from Pine Wood gathered around Gnawtusk.
