Xbox Series X 25th Anniversary Edition will celebrate 25 years of Xbox with a translucent green design that nods to the original Xbox. New information now points to a November launch and a price that would make it the most expensive Xbox console yet.

Xbox fans finally have a reported price for the new Xbox Series X 25th Anniversary Edition. According to reliable leakers, the console will cost $899, with an estimated US price of $899.99.  That would make it $100 more than the regular Xbox Series X, which is now priced at $799.99 after another price increase.

At $899.99, the anniversary edition would be around the same price as a PlayStation 5 Pro following its price increase. Xbox Series X 25th Anniversary Edition is reportedly scheduled to launch on November 27, which falls on Black Friday. We still don't know when pre-orders will go live, and the reported price could be the regular retail price, while a Black Friday promotion could offer a different price.

The Original Xbox Connection

That raises the question of why the anniversary edition needs to cost close to $1,000. A lower price could have connected the anniversary console to the original Xbox in another way, especially if the goal is to celebrate the platform's history and lineage.

A $299 price would match the original Xbox's launch price and give consumers another reason to see the anniversary edition as a celebration of Xbox history. Xbox Series X 25th Anniversary Edition is separate from Project Helix, which is expected to represent the next direction for XBOX.
