Revealed back at the Nintendo Switch event Nintendo confirmed that the company would be starting a brand new paid online service but limited details were given, until now.

The paid service will include voice chat and free games each month. According to Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima, the online service will be 3,000 yen or about $17.50-$26.50.
"The upgrades will likely apply to multiplayer online gaming and the library of downloadable classic games, and carry an annual fee of 2,000 yen to 3,000 yen ($17.60 to $26.40). "With paid [services], we will be able to fully commit to customers," said Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima."
Online services such as multiplayer will remain free on Wii U but the Switch Nintendo is taking a new approach. If you remember Sony took a similar direction with the PS4, limiting online access such as multiplayer behind PlayStation Plus but keeping PS3 online gaming free.
Kimishima also touched on Nintendo Switch adapting VR technology:
"Kimishima also said Nintendo is "studying" adding virtual reality functionality to the new console. "If we are able to resolve the issues with playing [VR] comfortably for long hours, we will support it in one form or another," he said, without providing a time frame."
The Nintendo Switch launches on March 3rd, the same day as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
