New characters, summon mechanics, and a roguelike-inspired mode are set to reshape Relink’s endgame experience.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink is getting ready for its biggest update yet. This time, Cygames seems ready to do a lot more than just add small things after the game comes out. On July 9, the Endless Ragnarök expansion will be released. It will add a lot of new material to the action RPG, which could bring it back to life after many players thought it had stopped being updated.

Sources say that the update adds new playable characters, strong summoning systems, a new enemy threat, and a whole new way to play the game that is designed to be played again and again. Endless Ragnarök looks like it was made to directly meet the needs of players who liked Relink's fast-paced combat but wanted more reasons to stay engaged in the long term.

There will be more than one version of the update. People who already have the base game can buy an upgrade pack, and people who have never played the game before can buy a full version that includes both the base game and the expansion. A special edition will also be available, including cosmetic packs, bonus items, downloadable content collections, and extra unlock materials tied to certain characters.

Still, the gameplay is what this is all about. Fraux and Fediel are two new playable foes added to Endless Ragnarök, bringing the total number of characters in the game to 29.

Fediel is a much darker being who lives in the sky, while Fraux is described as a caring person who is driven by kindness and determination. She is one of the mysterious Six Dragons and has powers that come from shadows and forces that are not of this world. Their addition looks like it will add to the game's already wide range of fighting styles, which has been one of its best features since it first came out.

There is also a new enemy called "The World" in the game. Sources say that the being was first made by the Astrals a long time ago and then evolved into an independent being with its own personality. Setting up this boss fight makes it sound like it will be much bigger than some of the other boss fights in the game, and it sounds like it was made for fully improved teams.

The new summon system is one of the most important new features in the update. Now, players can wear summons during fights and call them into battle directly. Some summons help the party, and others can be directed for a short time, like playable characters. In a game that's already known for having crazy boss fights and abilities that fly across the screen every few seconds, that alone changes the flow of battle in a big way.

Strong spirits like Lucilius and Rolan are likely to play big roles in the fights during these events. The update also adds a new feature called Primal Burst. It works when members of the party chain together their Skybound Arts during Link Time. When this effect is used, a summon joins the fight with a devastating follow-up attack that can add to the damage done by the combo.

It sounds intense and over the top, which is exactly the kind of style that Relink fans wanted to see more of.

Along with the update comes a brand-new mode called "The Conflux." The Conflux doesn't follow the usual quest framework. Instead, it's more like a roguelike. Players move through areas that are randomly placed, pick from different paths, pick up temporary upgrades, and face enemies that get harder as they go deeper into each run.

Some places are only for fighting, while others are good for exploring because they have treasure chests or rare enemy encounters. Because the structure is random, each run is a little different. This makes it more fun for solo players to play again and again than regular mission grinding. Players can also earn unique currencies that can be used to get buffs that only work in The Conflux.

Information from the sources says that the mode starts to be available in Chapter 6 and gets bigger as the story goes on. As you go up in level, the enemies will get harder, but the rewards will be better, like materials for improving weapons and sigils. The Conflux could quickly become the most time-consuming part of the update for players who like to chase endgame builds.

Cygames is also adding bonus rewards to the Granblue Fantasy mobile browser and Steam versions, but not all the information about these things has been made public yet.

Endless Ragnarök feels much bigger than a normal DLC update, which is what makes it stand out. With the new characters, summoning system, hard quests, and features that encourage replay, this seems more like a real expansion meant to make the game last longer in a meaningful way. Now there's only one easy question left: can Endless Ragnarök bring back former captains to the skies again this July?
