GTA 6 Leak Situation Escalates as Take-Two Seeks Records from Microsoft and Discord

The latest GTA 6 leaks are unveiling some more gameplay details, while Take-Two is apparently ramping up its efforts to track down the individual or group responsible for the footage.

The Grand Theft Auto 6 leak situation continues to escalate, with new footage reportedly appearing online almost every day. The leaks are now revealing basic gameplay details from a playable version of the game, while Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two Interactive are taking stronger legal action to determine who is responsible.

The situation has also become more complicated because of a cryptocurrency project reportedly connected to the leaks, with people apparently spending real money in the hope of seeing unreleased footage.

The latest footage reportedly provides another look at Jason driving a heavily damaged hypercar before stopping at a gas station.

Players can apparently choose between servicing the vehicle and refueling it, suggesting that gas stations could have a more practical role in GTA 6 than simply being locations around the map. The footage then reportedly shows Jason entering a store, attacking the cashier, and manually taking money from the register.

The reported footage does not stop there, as Jason apparently attracts police attention after the robbery. A two-star wanted level appears, with a police NPC ordering him to stop rather than immediately opening fire.

Jason then reportedly robs another store before escaping onto a highway, where he crashes the vehicle. The sequence allegedly ends with Jason entering a strip club, although the footage itself reportedly contains no major story information and instead focuses on general gameplay systems.

The rapid appearance of these clips has made it increasingly difficult for Rockstar and Take-Two to contain the situation. Videos reportedly appear on social media sites, but the companies quickly take them down, indicating they are vigilant about accounts posting the content.

Despite those efforts, new clips continue to surface, creating a cycle where one piece of footage disappears only for another to appear somewhere else. This scenario has also made the identity of the leaker one of the biggest unanswered questions surrounding the situation.

Based on the footage described so far, there appears to be a playable build of GTA 6 in the hands of whoever is responsible.

It remains unclear whether the build is from an older stage of development, whether it represents a nearly complete version of the game, or where it came from in the first place. There has also been speculation about whether the person has access to a developer build or some other internal version.

The financial aspect of the leaks is adding to the strangeness of the situation. Reports claim that a cryptocurrency coin associated with the leaker has reached a market capitalization of more than $2 million, increasing substantially after new footage appeared.

That suggests at least some people are putting significant amounts of money into the project in anticipation of receiving access to more GTA 6 material. Instead of simply leaking the footage for attention, the person behind the operation appears to be using the enormous interest in GTA 6 to create a potential source of revenue.

The reported setup has also raised concerns about the possibility of a cryptocurrency rug pull. If the value of the coin increases because people expect additional footage, the person behind it could potentially sell their holdings and walk away with the money.

That possibility has made the entire leak situation more controversial because the motivation may no longer be simply exposing information about GTA 6. The cryptocurrency angle suggests that financial incentives could now be playing a major role in keeping the leaks going.

The situation is unlikely to end simply because Rockstar releases more official GTA 6 footage.

An upcoming presentation could show new gameplay and provide additional information about the game, but Rockstar will naturally want to keep some features, story details, and surprises hidden until launch. Someone with access to an internal playable build could therefore continue revealing information that Rockstar deliberately chooses not to show publicly.

The biggest development, however, is reportedly happening on the legal side. Take-Two is seeking information from Microsoft and Discord in an attempt to identify accounts connected to the GTA 6 leaks. The move shows how seriously the publisher is treating the ongoing leak situation.

The company has reportedly issued demands for records associated with users who have communicated through Discord servers connected to the leaked material, with a deadline of September 4 given to the companies.

The requested information reportedly goes well beyond basic account details. Take-Two is seeking information that could help identify the people behind accounts connected to the leaks, including registration information, login IP addresses, phone numbers, linked accounts, device identifiers, and other records.

Microsoft is also reportedly being asked to provide information from its internal investigation into the Cyber Leak persona, along with relevant records connected to GTA 6, Rockstar, and the leak activity. This could give investigators additional clues about the accounts and devices involved in spreading the leaked footage.

Discord is reportedly facing similar demands involving accounts that were members of or communicated through servers associated with the leaked footage.

If the information is provided, Take-Two could potentially use it to connect online accounts with real-world identities or identify relationships between people involved in distributing the material. That could give Rockstar and Take-Two a much better chance of determining where the original footage came from.

The aggressive approach is understandable from Take-Two's perspective because GTA 6 is one of the biggest upcoming releases in the industry. The company has spent years protecting information about the game, while Rockstar has carefully controlled what it reveals through official trailers and promotional material.

At the same time, the legal demands have raised questions about how far Take-Two should go when trying to identify the leaker. The company is reportedly asking third-party platforms for extensive user and device information, even when those platforms themselves were not responsible for the original breach.

There is also still the question of how the leaker obtained the playable build in the first place. If the build came from an internal breach, Rockstar and Take-Two will presumably have to investigate their systems, employees, contractors, and development infrastructure.

If it came from another source, the investigation could take a very different direction. The use of VPNs and multiple online accounts could also make the person harder to track, although the legal requests to Microsoft and Discord suggest Take-Two is attempting to collect as much information as possible.

For players, the situation creates a strange balance between curiosity and concern. GTA 6 is one of the most anticipated games ever, so every new detail is likely to attract enormous attention. However, the cryptocurrency aspect means some people are reportedly paying real money simply to gain access to footage that they cannot play themselves.

The situation could therefore become even bigger before it gets smaller.

More footage may appear online despite Rockstar's efforts, particularly if the person behind the leaks continues using the cryptocurrency project to generate interest. Official GTA 6 presentations may reveal additional information, but they are unlikely to cover everything contained within a playable development build.

For now, there is still no confirmed identity for the person or group behind the Cyber Leak persona, and Rockstar and Take-Two have not publicly revealed exactly how the original build was obtained. The investigation could ultimately reveal whether the footage came from an internal breach or another source.

The latest gameplay details demonstrate that whoever has access appears to possess a version of GTA 6 that is playable enough to explore different systems and activities. Meanwhile, the reported legal action against Microsoft and Discord shows that Take-Two is no longer simply trying to remove individual videos.

What began as a basic GTA 6 leak has become a much larger issue involving gameplay footage, online communities, cryptocurrency, privacy concerns, and a growing legal investigation. With new footage continuing to appear, the situation could become even more complicated for Rockstar and Take-Two.

With more footage reportedly continuing to surface, Take-Two faces the difficult task of protecting one of its most valuable upcoming releases while trying to identify the source. Until the person behind the leaks is found or the source of the build is explained, the situation is likely to remain one of the biggest ongoing stories surrounding GTA 6.
