Persona 6, Kingdom Hearts 4, and Dozens of Unannounced Games Hit by Massive Achievement Leak

Last week a major gaming leak came to light, and this particular one has gone beyond simply exposing several forthcoming titles. If you're aiming to avoid spoilers, you're already in a tough spot since some of the leaked details have spread on social media even though no one has specifically looked for them. 

It's said that the leak has made public the achievement data for dozens of games, among them big titles that still have a long time before their release. Several of the most prominent names associated with the leak are Persona 6, Kingdom Hearts 4, and Mega Man: Dual Override.

The information appears to have come through Exophase.

A website that tracks achievements and trophies across services such as PlayStation Network, XBOX, Steam, EA, Blizzard, GOG, and Google Play. The site uses APIs and other platform servers to retrieve achievement information and display it for users. 

It also tracks games already in its database, meaning it constantly checks for new information. That system apparently allowed many achievement lists to become visible before their respective games were officially announced or released.

It became apparent when a large number of achievements began to appear publicly on Steam. Generally speaking, achievements are private, especially when they include information that could reveal important parts of a game. 

In this case, some achievements showed up online, and Exophase, the company, picked them up and began including the details on its website. According to reports, more than 70 games began appearing this way, making the issue much bigger than one game accidentally leaking its achievement list.

Although a confirmed release date for the game has not yet been given and expectations are instead heading towards next year, the leaked information apparently included much more than just the names of the achievements; details relating to the combat systems, the Personas, the story elements, and the settings were said to have been visible as well. 

This is especially awkward considering that, these days, it’s possible to come across spoilers even if you’re not actively searching for information about Persona 6. Once people start to piece together leaked information, those discoveries tend to spread quickly across social media and gaming communities. 

Even if you avoid specific spoiler discussions, a post or a headline might still reveal something simply because you came across it. Fans hoping to experience the game in its entirety for the first time may face a long wait to play while trying to avoid that information, as it could still be a year away.

Kingdom Hearts 4 was one of the big titles that was leaked, and the situation might be even more frustrating for fans. Since the achievement list includes details about unannounced worlds, the leak may have disclosed material that Square Enix normally holds back until future trailers and reveal events. 

You've already seen how much excitement a new world can cause when it is officially announced, so having those surprises appear in the achievement database means that aspect of the experience is lost. The game isn't scheduled to be released for some time, either, which leaves a lot of time for leaked information to get out there.

With the previous Kingdom Hearts 4 trailer showing off the Coco universe, this announcement immediately gave fans a new topic to discuss. 

These revelations about the different worlds are such an important part of the game's marketing because the visual style matches so well with Kingdom Hearts. Typically, it’s a new franchise, a new world, a different visual style, a new Keyblade, and so on, all revealed at the same time to create a big moment for the fans. 

The interest surrounding the leak increases if you look at games that have not yet been announced; among the information cited is an unannounced Tetris game as well as an unannounced Rurouni Kenshin project. 

Although Rurouni Kenshin has had games before, some of the earlier ones were mainly connected with Japan and never saw major releases in the United States, so the fact that a new project has now appeared is especially noteworthy, particularly for those who remember the older PlayStation and PSP games from back then.

An unannounced Nickelodeon game was also reportedly included, and information surrounding that project has led to speculation that it could be a life simulation game. If that description is accurate, the concept could follow a similar general idea to Animal Crossing, although the leaked information does not establish exactly how the game would work. 

You could potentially see a Nickelodeon-themed world built around customization, activities, and character interactions. For now, however, it remains one of the many projects that have appeared without an official announcement.

Another project that stands out is an Avengers game. 

Marvel's Avengers previously tried to combine the superhero property with a live-service structure, but the result didn't get the response its publisher hoped for. The game was criticized for feeling like a live-service project with the Avengers added to it, rather than a game designed around what makes the characters interesting. 

Marvel’s Avengers eventually added characters like Spider-Man, but that didn't turn the situation around. Spider-Man was considered awkward to control compared with the movement and combat systems seen in Insomniac's Spider-Man games, and the larger game never recovered. 

Support eventually ended, although players who own the disc were given a way to play the game offline rather than losing access to it completely. A new Avengers game could still work, but it would need to avoid repeating the same live-service approach.

A more focused multiplayer experience could potentially work if the developers build it around the characters instead of forcing them into a service model. The leaked information doesn't establish what this Avengers project actually is, so plenty remains unknown. The same uncertainty applies to several other projects that appeared alongside it.

The leak reportedly includes references to a Shrek 2 remaster, as well as a potential Sea of Thieves sequel or spin-off. 

The leak also apparently includes a Sonic game among the unannounced projects, adding another recognizable franchise to an already strange list. Some of these games are reportedly looking as far ahead as late 2027, which shows just how early some of these projects could be in development. 

That distinction matters because some projects in these databases may be experiments or early concepts. A game can have an internal project, app ID, achievement setup, or testing material without ever making it through quality assurance, pre-production, or full development. 

Horizon Hunters Gathering is a useful example of how uncertain these projects can become, as the game once appeared to be moving toward release but is now reportedly facing questions about whether it will even make it to the finish line. Sony is apparently expected to reevaluate that project by December before deciding its future.

There are also a number of rather surprising entries, such as a game based on Twin Peaks and a project involving ALF. A game set in Twin Peaks might be reasonable as a horror-mystery adventure since the series already has that kind of odd atmosphere, which suits adaptation to an interactive format. 

The ALF project is much harder to understand, especially since the achievement details seem like simple testing; there's even an image showing ALF being used for one of the achievements, but that alone doesn't reveal what the project actually is.

The sheer variety of these projects makes the leak unusual, but the bigger concern remains the information attached to games that are already highly anticipated. 

Persona 6 and Kingdom Hearts 4 have received the most attention because their leaked achievements include information players were expected to learn through future announcements and eventually through the games themselves. 

For Kingdom Hearts 4 in particular, the leaked information could make future world reveals less surprising. At the same time, hints about what Square Enix is preparing have made the eventual trailers more engaging for some fans.

If you want to avoid spoilers, the safest approach is to expect these details to continue circulating for months. Kingdom Hearts 4 may still be some time away from release, and the marketing schedule will likely include several major reveals before launch. 

The leaked information could therefore remain relevant for much of the game’s promotional period. Even muted keywords might not prevent accidental exposure when people discuss the information across different platforms.

The current situation has been compared to the Nvidia leak, though one important difference separates the two cases. 

While the Nvidia leak contained a large number of titles and information about projects that could be in development or considered, this achievements leak is all about actual game details like potential story elements, worlds, characters, and other information that can directly spoil the experience. 

Ultimately, the biggest problem is that this information appeared before developers had the opportunity to reveal it themselves. Some of the projects could disappear before anyone officially announces them, while others could eventually become major releases. 

For games such as Persona 6 and Kingdom Hearts 4, however, the leaked achievements have already given fans information they were never supposed to have this early. A random achievement database update has effectively turned into one of the year's more significant gaming leaks.
