Rumor: Persona 5 Scramble May Be Dead In The West
Koei Tecmo has erased the game’s release information for North America and Europe.
News by Fragnarok on Oct 28, 2020
Koei Tecmo has released its October 2020 fiscal report and one of the prominent omissions has been details linked to Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers in both North America and Europe; only its development and release in Asia remains - including localizations into Mandarin Chinese and Korean. This is surprising, as the game’s western release was a big focus of Koei Tecmo’s previous two finical reports. The latest documents instead now mainly highlight Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity, Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires, Nioh 2, and Atelier Ryza 2.
It is possible the omission is due to error, but neither Koei Tecmo or Atlus have made a clarifying statement. While Koei Tecmo is developing the game as a Persona themed version of their Dynasty Warriors gameplay, Atlus is the one who ultimately decides its localization and publishing. This comes as a blow to fans of Persona 5 Royal, as Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers serves as the canonical sequel to the enhanced edition.
