If you play Castlevania: Belmont's Curse normally, you get sent back with unfinished business. Here is how to complete the side quests, survive the extra boss fights, and get the True Ending.

Prerequisites for True Ending

Before you can work toward this finish, you must defeat Dracula once and see the standard credits roll. When the game asks how to continue, choose to keep your gear so you do not reset your level or inventory in Castlevania: Belmont's Curse.

Your main goal now is clearing The Cursed tarot line, which requires lifting the affliction on Rose. Head over to Notre Dame and enter the Gallery of Four Virtues. Inside, you will find four separate trial rooms that grant specific blessings once finished.

Castlevania: Belmont's Curse Reaching the True Ending

Unlocking and Clearing Gallery of Four Virtues

Each door inside the Gallery of Four Virtues stays locked until you equip a matching Arcana spell. These abilities come from completing the game's major tarot side quests, namely The Sage, The Judge, and The Whisper.

Trial of Courage

For the first trial, equip the Infernal Pyre Arcana to open the door. This is easily the roughest test in the room because you must fight an upgraded version of Joan of Arc.

Keep your distance, watch for her wide swings, and hit her with burst damage when she recovers to claim the blessing in Castlevania: Belmont's Curse.

Trial of Temperance

Equip the Freezing Path Arcana to enter this chamber. Use the spell's path-making properties to cross the room safely and clear the platforming challenge.

Trial of Justice

You need the Chains of Justice Arcana equipped to unlock and enter the third room. Use the chains to interact with the trial mechanics and grab your reward.

Trial of Prudence

Equip the Mirror Walk Arcana to step through the final barrier. Use the phase ability to navigate around the room hazards and collect the last blessing in Castlevania: Belmont's Curse.

Defeating Shadow & Unlocking Self Tarot

Once you finish all four trials, head back to the center of the main room in the Gallery of Four Virtues. Interact with the large glass structure in the middle, which immediately triggers a boss battle against Rose's Doppelganger.

This copy has access to your full moveset and hits hard. Make sure your armor and weapons are fully upgraded before starting the encounter.

If you hit a wall, you can adjust the difficulty settings in Custom Mode to get through it without failing the quest.

Taking down your shadow awards you The Self Tarot. This card grants one of the strongest magic abilities in the game and marks the curse officially broken in Castlevania: Belmont's Curse.

Triggering the True Ending

With The Self Tarot in your inventory, travel back through the castle to Dracula's throne room.

Fight and defeat Dracula one more time. Because the curse is gone, the standard post-fight scene will not play. Instead, you get the True Ending cutscene alongside the Curse Lifted achievement in Castlevania: Belmont's Curse.

FAQ

Q. Can I get the True Ending on my first run without beating Dracula first?

A. No. To get the True Ending, you must defeat Dracula, then reload your save with your inventory preserved, to access the necessary trials.

Q. What happens if the trial doors in Notre Dame won't open?

A. Check your active loadout. Simply owning the Arcana doesn’t mean you’ll be able to open the doors. You’ll have to equip Infernal Pyre, Freezing Path, Chains of Justice, or Mirror Walk manually before being able to interact with their respective door.
