Here’s a guide on how to get the Best Early Items in Castlevania: Belmont's Curse.

Once you step past the demo area in Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, the world opens up at an early signpost. You face a choice between two main directions: heading toward the Cemetery or tackling the Tower. While the game lets you pick either route, tackling the Tower first makes your early run much smoother.

Here is the exact progression route to defeat the bosses, collect key items, and unlock the path forward without getting lost.

Castlevania: Belmont's Curse Route 1 Climb The Tower

Route #1: Climb The Tower

At the main signpost, follow the right path to the entrance of the Tower. Go inside and make your way through the first rooms with obstacles and enemies. Work your way upward to exit onto the upper exterior level.

Turn left to enter a small side chamber where you can activate a mechanism to lower a bridge. You can grapple across this gap to explore further.

If you take the grapple point upward, you will find an optional combat challenge room. Clear all the enemies inside this room to claim the ATK Up Book sitting directly below the arena.

Head back and proceed through the next main door of the Tower. Climb through another gauntlet of traps and enemies until you reach the open upper scaffolding. Swing across the gap to locate a Save Mirror Room to secure your checkpoint.

To reach the summit quickly, look for the hook hanging directly above near the exterior. Swing back and forth on this hook several times. This triggers an overhead hatch to open, activating a direct elevator platform that carries you straight to the roof.

Beating Joan of Arc

At the peak of the Tower, you face Joan of Arc. Depending on your path, you will likely fight her using your starting sword or fist weapon. Keep your spacing nice, punish her recovery animations, and don’t overcommit.

Defeating Joan of Arc yields three critical rewards: a new combat spell, The Warrior's Key, and the Burnt Sword.

As you make your way out of the area, you also receive the Holy Light skill. This ability lets your character walk directly through the semi-translucent rock barriers scattered across the map. Use Holy Light to exit the structure and return to earlier zones to collect previously blocked treasure.

Route #2: The Graveyard & Ruins

Return to the original signpost and follow the left-hand path to the Cemetery. Enter the grounds of the graveyard and kill the big skeleton that guards the entrance.

While the graveyard has several side areas, focus on locating the large hollow tree. A local ghost appears nearby, panning the view to highlight the exact spot.

Just below this hollow tree, there is a fragile wall that, when it is broken, will show the secret entrance down into the Ruins.

Descend deep into the Ruins. The path requires precise platforming past swinging blades, floor spikes, and standard enemies.

Keep moving downward toward the lowest chamber of the zone. At the bottom, you will spot a Save Mirror Room positioned immediately before the boss chamber.

Beating Medusa

Medusa is faster and hits harder than previous encounters. Stay aggressive, but watch for two deadly signature attacks.

When she charges her serpent laser beam across the arena, look upward. Boulders will drop from the ceiling on both sides of the room. Stand directly behind one of these fallen rocks to block the beam entirely.

When she shouts, "Look into my eyes," immediately turn your character to face the opposite direction. Facing away completely negates the incoming flash and prevents you from getting stunned.

Taking down Medusa rewards you with the Petrifying Gaze spell and The Prophetess's Key. You will also find a new weapon, the Rusted Harp, and Aegis, resting right outside the boss chamber exit.

Entering The Catacombs

With The Warrior's Key from the Tower and The Prophetess's Key from the Ruins, you now hold all three major keys required for the main gate. Backtrack to the massive sealed door where you fought the initial tutorial boss, insert your keys, and open the passage into the Catacombs.

FAQ

Q. Which path should I choose first, the Tower or the Cemetery?

A. The Tower. Beating the boss there gives you the Holy Light ability, allowing you to phase through stone barriers and making it much easier to navigate later zones.

Q. How do I bypass Medusa's gaze stun in Castlevania: Belmont's Curse?

A. Turn your character in the opposite direction the moment she calls out "Look into my eyes." As long as your back is turned to her during the flash, the stun fails.

Q. Where do I use the keys collected from the bosses?

A. Take your keys back to the grand sealed doorway located in the tutorial boss chamber to unlock the entrance to the Catacombs.
