The Succubus is fast, hits hard, and teleports around the arena. If you attack her without having a good plan, the Succubus will suck your health away before you can land a good killing blow. But with the right build and damage setup you can melt her health bar even if you get hit a few times.

Castlevania: Belmont's Curse Succubus Attack Patterns and Strategy

Best Relic and Weapon Build

The core of this strategy is turning your lost health and empty healing charges into raw damage in Castlevania: Belmont's Curse.

Equip the relic that grants 25% bonus damage when you sit at maximum health. Pair this with the relic that fills your health to full with one potion charge. On top of that, add the relic that gives you increased attack power for every empty healing vial in your inventory.

This gives you 20% extra damage per missing potion. Once you burn through all three of your charges, you get a massive 60% damage buff.

Pop your last heal to reset to full health, and you get both the full-health bonus and the empty-vial bonus at the exact same time in Castlevania: Belmont's Curse.

For your weapon, pick a Whip. If you space your attacks correctly and strike from the tip of the lash, it scores critical hits consistently. Combine this setup with Isaac's Arcana. Casting this spell slows down time, keeping the boss stuck so you can hit the full combo.

Phase #1: The Z-Formation Dash

When the Succubus readies her flying kick, she darts across the room in a sharp Z-pattern. You will see the attack wind up right before she dashes in Castlevania: Belmont's Curse.

Jump straight up to clear the kicks. During the first half of the battle, she performs this dash sequence three times before stopping. Once she finishes the third dash, close the distance and hit her.

Managing Minions and Shields

Every so often, she floats into the air and summons a wave of smaller adds. In the first minion phase, you can track where the real boss is hiding just by hitting targets and watching her main health bar drop.

Later in the fight, these summoned minions will channel energy directly into her, suspending her in mid-air with a shield.

You cannot hurt her while that barrier stays up. Shift your focus and take out the minions immediately to drop her shield and bring her back down to the ground in Castlevania: Belmont's Curse.

Phase #2: Under 50% Health

Once you push her below half health, the Succubus becomes far more aggressive. Her teleport frequency spikes, and she throws out far more projectiles.

Her signature kick pattern changes here as well. Instead of stopping at three dashes, she will now kick four times in a row. Do not rush in after the third dash, or you will take a direct hit.

Wait for the fourth leap to end, activate Isaac's Arcana to freeze the action, and unleash your Whip strikes at maximum range in Castlevania: Belmont's Curse.

FAQ

Q. What happens when the Succubus gets a shield?

A. Minions channel energy to suspend her in the air and block your damage. You must kill the minions first to break the shield and make her vulnerable again.

Q. Why use Isaac's Arcana in this boss fight?

A. The Succubus teleports out of range very quickly. Activating Isaac's Arcana slows down time, extending your attack window so you can land a full rotation of critical hits.
