If you are struggling to keep up with the monsters wandering around Dracula's Castle, picking up a hard-hitting weapon early on makes a massive difference.

Durandal is one of the strongest greatswords you can grab before pushing past the Library. It deals far more raw damage than your starter weapons, and it even features a whip-style attack motion that clears out crowded rooms fast.

Beating Carmilla for Aerial Rush

Before you even attempt to reach the sword, you need to work through the main route of the Library and defeat Carmilla.

Taking down Carmilla rewards you with the Aerial Rush ability, which serves as your mid-air dash. You cannot bypass this requirement.

The platforming sequence leading to the chest is physically impossible without an air dash, so do not waste your time trying to get there ahead of schedule. Once Carmilla is defeated and you have Aerial Rush in your kit, you are ready to make the trip.

Reaching Curiosity Cabinet

With the air dash ready, backtrack down toward the Curiosity Cabinet. You will find this area just two rooms to the right of the Planetarium.

Inside the Curiosity Cabinet, look straight toward the middle of the room to spot a cluster of floating light orbs. You must activate these to launch yourself upward.

Even if you never picked up the collectible notes that explain the constellation puzzle, you can still trigger the mechanism manually.

Solving Constellation Puzzle

Jump directly into the cluster of glowing lights and bounce across the four puzzle orbs. You will know you hit the right ones because each correct orb visibly swells in size. If you miss your angle or hit a wrong target, just drop down to the ledge or the floor below.

This puts the whole setup back so you can start again immediately. Once all four orbs are activated, the constellation launches you straight up into the air.

Platforming Through Lisa’s Laboratory

The launch sends you high enough to reach the route leading into Lisa's Laboratory. This is a room where you need to be accurate, so time your inputs well.

Launch upward from the constellation, hit your Aerial Rush mid-jump to cross the gap toward the floating orb, and grapple onto it to pull yourself forward.

Drop onto the crumbling platform just long enough to reset your footing, but do not stand still or it will break under your weight.

Dash across to the second set of orbs on the opposite side, grapple through one final time, and land on the solid platform inside Lisa's Laboratory.

Go to the treasure chest in the center of the room and open it. You’ll receive Durandal.

FAQ

Q. Can I get Durandal before fighting Carmilla?

A. No. The platforming in Lisa’s Laboratory forces you to chain your mid-air dash to grapple points across massive gaps. Because Aerial Rush only drops after defeating Carmilla, beating her is a mandatory first step.

Q. Do I need the puzzle notes to solve the Curiosity Cabinet constellation?

A. No. The notes simply provide the solution ahead of time, but the game lets you bounce on the four correct orbs and activate the launch pad even if you never found the lore entry.
