The Charting the Unknown DLC introduces a full romance system to Crimson Desert. If you want your mercenary to find a partner across the continent of Pywel, you cannot just walk up and profess your feelings right away. You have to put in the groundwork, earn their respect, and chat with them regularly.

Here is how the romance system works and what you need to do to build a relationship with eligible characters.

Building a relationship requires patience, daily conversations, and careful attention to character dialogue. If you rush things before someone likes you, you will push them away.

Check if an NPC is Romanceable

Not every person in Pywel wants to date you. Whenever you walk up and interact with an NPC, look at the top right corner of your screen in Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown DLC.

Right next to their Trust meter, look for an icon showing a person with a heart next to them. If that icon is present and you see a Flirt option in your interaction menu, that character is an eligible partner.

If that icon has a slash through it, you cannot romance them at all, no matter how high your standing is.

Max Out the Initial Trust Gauge

Before you touch that Flirt button, you must raise the NPC's standard Trust gauge to 100 in Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown DLC.

Do not try to flirt early. If you attempt to flirt before reaching 100 Trust, the NPC will reject your advance immediately, and you will lose 10 Trust on the spot. Stick to standard quests, favors, and basic interactions until that initial bar is completely full.

Flirt and Unlock the Romance Meter

Once you hit 100 Trust, select the Flirt option. Your character will hand over a bouquet of flowers to kick off the courtship.

Doing this opens up a brand-new relationship gauge. While the game still labels this bar as Trust, it functions as a dedicated romance meter.

It resets back to 0, completely separate from the friendship gauge you just finished. Your next goal is to fill this new meter from 0 all the way back up to 100 in Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown DLC.

Build Romance Through Daily Conversations

You fill the new romance gauge primarily by talking to your partner every day. Start by selecting the Get to Know Them prompt whenever it appears during your early talks. Make sure to pick dialogue choices that show empathy and match the character's personality.

You need to use both the Chat and Greet options every single day you see them in Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown DLC.

The meter has daily progression limits, so once you exhaust your daily talk options, you must pass in-game time by sleeping at a camp or resting at an inn before you can gain more points from chatting again.

Gear to Speed Up Romance Progression

If you do not want to spend dozens of in-game days waiting for timers to reset, you can equip specific gear pieces to boost how much standing you get from conversations.

Wearing the Solidarity Abyss Gear increases the bonus points earned during social interactions. Combining or pairing this with The Rabbit Leather Mask further boosts the amount of relationship standing gained each time you greet or chat with an NPC.

Putting these pieces on cuts down the total number of visits required to max out the bar in Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown DLC.

FAQ

Q. What happens if you flirt with an NPC too early?

A. If you try to flirt before reaching 100 initial Trust, the NPC will reject you and your standing drops by 10 points. Always wait until the base bar is full.

Q. Can you romance every NPC in Crimson Desert?

A. No. You can only romance characters who display an uncrossed heart icon next to their name in the interaction menu. If the heart has a cross through it, they are not an option.
