Death Stranding 2: On the Beach Guide | How To Recover All Chiral Density Gauges Stolen by Bandits
Here’s how you can get back all the Chiral Density Gauges stolen by the bandits in one of the first missions in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
Game Guide by Ornstein on Jun 27, 2025
This guide details how to recover all Chiral Density Gauges stolen by the Bandits. After the Watchtower is destroyed, you will have to go through unfriendly territory to find both gauges and then decide whether to fight directly or sneakily.
With clear goals and planned traversal, the recovery will go smoothly, with no needless delays or waste of resources.

Mission Overview
After disabling the Watchtower, the next objective directs you to retrieve the stolen Chiral Density Gauges from the Bandits.
Two gauges are hidden within a small riverside encampment: one inside a tent near the initial approach and another across the river in enemy territory. Ample supplies and potential fuel sources are scattered throughout the area.
Approaching the Campsite
Upon arrival at the bandit encampment, move carefully toward the cluster of tents set up alongside the river. Enemies patrol both sides of the riverbank, and spotting by a distant sentry can compromise stealth.

If stealth proves too challenging, prepare for direct engagement; clearing enemies early reduces risk during river crossing.
Recovering the First Gauge
As you near the first tent, crouch to minimize noise and visibility. Inside this tent lies the first Chiral Density Gauge, alongside extra supplies. Neutralize nearby sentries—either quietly or with force—and secure the gauge.
Ensure you collect any additional equipment before proceeding, and note the location of your transport if you plan to return for it later.
Crossing the River

With the first gauge in hand, head toward the shallow point of the river. Crouching while moving with the current helps maintain balance and preserves cargo stability.
Avoid deeper sections where swift currents could dislodge packages. If enemies remain on the far bank, eliminate them before entering the water to prevent combat while wading.
Recovering the Second Gauge
Once across, follow the beaten path into enemy territory. A cluster of tents and bandit patrols surrounds the second Chiral Density Gauge.
Use stealth takedowns to maintain a high mission rating or engage openly—depending on your loadout and preferred playstyle. After clearing enemies, retrieve the gauge and prepare for extraction.

Mission Completion
With both Chiral Density Gauges recovered, return to the designated delivery point for processing. Maintaining cargo integrity and avoiding prolonged firefights will yield the best mission rating and resource efficiency.
