This guide provides a full walkthrough for unlocking the best ending in Doki Doki Literature Club Plus. Achieving this ending also unlocks the "Dan says hi" achievement and contributes to the 100% data collection for the "Breakthrough" achievement.

Understanding the Endings

The typical ending involves Sayori becoming the president of the literature club after Monika is removed. In this outcome, Sayori becomes self-aware and follows a similar path to Monika, leading to the club being shut down. The best ending prevents this outcome.

Requirements for the Best Ending

To unlock the best ending, you must see every character CG for all three girls—Sayori, Yuri, and Natsuki—in a single playthrough. A CG is a special drawing that appears during key story events. You need to complete three distinct playthroughs of Act 1, each dedicated to one girl.

Completing the Three Playthroughs

For each playthrough, you must make every decision in favor of one specific girl. This includes writing poems tailored to her, supporting her in conversations, and choosing dialogue options that mention her name.

You do not need a perfect score of 20/20 in the poem minigame, but the majority of words you choose should be ones that the girl prefers.

For the Sayori playthrough, you must tell her "I love you" when she confesses to you. This unlocks a specific CG of her hugging you. After completing each playthrough, save your game just before the end of Act 1, specifically before the conversation with Monika on the day of the festival.

Then, start a new game to begin the next playthrough for a different girl. You should end up with three separate save files, one for each girl.

Finalizing the Best Ending

After completing the three playthroughs and ensuring all CGs are unlocked, proceed through the game as normal. You can choose any girl for this final playthrough. Play until you reach Act 3 and unlock the CG of Monika staring at you.

To be safe, listen to Monika's entire initial conversation, complete the poem minigame, and wait for the first dialogue box with her random thoughts to appear. Then, delete Monika's character file as you would in a standard playthrough.

Confirming Success

After deleting Monika's file, the game will end. If you have successfully unlocked all CGs, the credits will show every CG in full color. If any are missing, they will appear in black and white.

At the very end of the credits, you will receive a message from Dan Salvato, confirming you have achieved the best ending and unlocking the "Dan says hi" achievement.
