Here's a guide on how to Master Combat in Dune: Awakening.

To master combat in Dune: Awakening, you must effectively use melee and firearms, execute parries, and develop strategic approaches to confront enemies.

Applications of Combat
When fighting shielded melee fighters in Dune: Awakening, killing them with your shotgun is the ideal solution. Use the shotgun until enemies realize what is happening and react to your fire. Once they are all alerted, you'll need to adapt accordingly.
When you are out of range or in medium range, bring out your Pistol. When you can close to point-blank range, switch over to the shotgun and take them out head-on. The shotgun's close range and high damage make it extremely useful for close-range combat.
Once you're in melee, switch to your Shortblade. Melee combat has a parrying system - observe the timing of the attack coming in and parry at the exact moment they're going to hit to deflect their attack.

But you won't be able to break shield blocks with standard attacks. Hold the left mouse button to stab, which will break the shield block instead.
Timing is the key to successful melee combat. Pick your opponent off guard, do your shield-piercing attack, and finish them off when they are vulnerable. This rhythm is required for killing shielded targets in close-range combat.
Advanced Combat Techniques
The Long Blade is more powerful than the Short Blade but slower to attack and thus best suited to some situations. For middle-range combat, target headshots in an attempt to do the maximum amount of damage and one-shot kill enemies.
When outnumbered by more than one enemy, use grenades wisely. Throwing a grenade at an enemy with binoculars will put him into stasis while you take care of other enemies. This crowd control measure can determine victory or defeat when there are many.
Use your Long Sword for heavy combat. Parry one enemy, then place yourself where you won't get surrounded. If you get into a disadvantaged position, press the left Alt or the appropriate button to dodge quickly.
Utilize your unique abilities. Utilize the ignore command on one enemy to attack another, and you can defeat multiple enemies through a division method.
After defeating one of the enemies, you can focus on the remaining enemies. Remember to parry attacks, knock enemies off balance, and utilize slow blade actions to eliminate enemies.

Ranged Combat
Don't use Pistols on enemies that keep their distance. Don't try to get close to them if multiple enemies are nearby. Take them out first before going forward.
Always have a loaded weapon and be ready for anything. The enemy is unpredictable, and getting caught off guard quickly turns the battle against you.
When you are far from the enemy, use the Rifle and headshot to maximize it. Although you do not utilize the Pistol much (keeping the sword as default general combat), it is still usable and among the first you can unlock in the game.
Defensive Strategy
Learning Shield mechanics is essential to surviving. You would notice your Shield energy depleting whenever enemies are shooting at you.
You can self-heal whenever you're down, which is one of the survival skills you must master. Keeping your health and Shield energy points for long battles will determine your success rate.
Don't forget to stagger opponents first before performing finishing attacks. This method succeeds every time and enables you to strike at enemies from behind when they're weak, guaranteeing clean kills even against heavily equipped foes.

Shotgun, Rifle, and Long Sword are typically the handiest and frequently used weapons, although all guns in your inventory have their own function. Pistol is okay but not necessarily needed, depending on your way of fighting and which enemy you're up against.
