A simple guide to help you understand what to prioritize early so your build feels clear and useful

At first, GreedFall: The Dying World has a lot of layers of progression, which can make the beginning seem more confusing than it needs to be. Thinking of your build in three parts is the easiest way to avoid that.

Your abilities affect how you fight. Attributes help you stay on track with your core direction. Talents make life easier. When you think about them that way, the choices you made at first start to make more sense.

Put Abilities First First

Abilities should usually be your first focus. These are the options that make fighting feel more stable. If your fights are already awkward, making sure everyone is paying attention to everything will only make things worse. Instead of starting with the part of combat you want to rely on most, support it first and then move outward.

A focused start is always better than a scattered one. When your build has one strong idea behind it instead of several weak ones, early combat gets a lot easier.

Use attributes to help your main style

Attributes should support the style you chose. When they help your character do what they're already trying to do, they work best. Your attributes should help you go in the direction of combat if your build has a clear combat direction.

This is why it's important to plan ahead. When your traits and skills work together, the character feels more whole right away. That usually gives you a better chance than trying to cover all of your bases at once.

Don't Ignore Talents

It's easy to believe that Talents aren't as important as combat choices, but they are more helpful than they seem. Talents help with exploring, getting to things, making things, and using them. Not just the fights, but the whole game is smoother. Picking a good talent can make the first few hours easier and give the rest of your build room to breathe.

This is why you shouldn't think of talents as an afterthought. They aren't your main combat core, but they make progress feel easier and more flexible.

Set One Clear Early Goal and Build Around It

The simplest early build is usually the best one. Choose a main idea for combat, let your Attributes help it, and use Talents to make it easier to get around the world. That makes the beginning more stable and stops it from feeling messy.

You can branch out with more confidence once that base feels good. The most important thing is not to try to do too much too soon. The most important thing is to make your first few hours feel stable.
