In Hades, one of the rarest resources you can obtain is Ambrosia. This golden drink has several important uses, and you will need a steady supply of it if you wish to strengthen bonds, unlock Companions, or purchase certain rewards. Since it does not come in abundance, knowing exactly where to spend it is crucial as you progress through the game.

Increase Affinity With Characters

After you complete a Favor for most characters, you gain the ability to give them Ambrosia instead of Nectar. Doing so raises your bond with them even further, which may unlock romance paths or provide you with other benefits in Hades.

In addition, the first time you present Ambrosia to specific characters, you are rewarded with a Companion. For example, giving Ambrosia to Dusa grants you Fidi, while gifting it to Megaera provides Battie. Offering it to Thanatos unlocks Mort, and gifting it to Skelly earns you Rib. Presenting it to Sisyphus grants you Shady, while delivering it to Achilles rewards you with Antos in Hades.

Upgrade Companions

When you first receive a Companion, you are only able to use it once during an escape attempt. To make a Companion available for use more often, you must upgrade it. This can be done by interacting with the display case or through the Keepsake Collection, if you have purchased it from the House Contractor.

Spending Ambrosia in this way increases the strength and number of uses for each Companion. Each one can be upgraded up to level five, requiring a total of ten Ambrosia to reach the maximum level. If you choose to make use of the Night Spindle, you can extend its usability even further in Hades.

Rewards From The House Contractor

You also have the option to spend Ambrosia with the House Contractor, although it is limited to a few decorative rewards. By paying fifteen Ambrosia, you can purchase the Lovely Theme, while spending ten Ambrosia allows you to acquire the Sonorous Theme.

Gain Ranks

Once you have cleared the game at least once, you unlock the ability to trade Ambrosia with the Resource Director in exchange for Ranks tied to post-game Titles. These ranks represent progression after victory and require various resources to unlock, though Ambrosia is one of the least required materials. In total, only ten Ambrosia are needed to fully upgrade across all ranks, making this one of the lighter uses of the resource in Hades.
