Unlocking hidden Aspects of weapons in Hades begins with the Eternal Spear: Aspect of Guan Yu. This particular Aspect must be unlocked first before you can access the hidden elements for any of the other weapons.

To accomplish this, you must prepare by acquiring specific upgrades, investing resources, and interacting with certain characters in Hades.

Requirements Before Unlocking

The first step is to obtain the Fated List of Minor Prophecies from the House Contractor. By the time you begin aiming for hidden Aspects, you will most likely already own it. In addition to this, you need to unlock all weapons in the game and reach the final boss.

Defeating the boss is not necessary—merely reaching the encounter is enough to make the hidden Aspects available. Each weapon contains a fourth Aspect that remains locked at first, and the process to access them all begins with the spear in Hades.

Titan Blood Investment

To proceed, you must invest at least five Titan Blood into five different non-Zagreus Aspects of weapons. This requires upgrading the second or third Aspect of firearms, other than the default ones tied to Zagreus.

Making these upgrades is necessary not only for the spear but also for the hidden Aspects of every weapon, so spreading your Titan Blood across multiple weapons ensures you will not need to spend extra later in Hades.

Titan Blood can be collected in different ways. You receive it as a reward after defeating the first and final boss. It becomes obtainable again by activating the Pact of Punishment for repeated boss encounters.

The Wretched Broker offers trades that can provide more, and during runs, it is sometimes sold in the Temple of Styx shop. In addition, there is a slight chance to fish one up on the surface where the final boss battle occurs in Hades.

Unlocking the Hidden Aspect

After investing the required Titan Blood, the next step is to speak with Achilles in the House. At some point, we will deliver a line of dialogue about the waking phrase connected to the Spear’s hidden Aspect.

Once this conversation takes place, a prophecy will appear on the Fated List of Minor Prophecies, confirming that you received the correct phrase. If Achilles does not mention it right away, you may need to talk to him several times.

A reliable method is to begin a run, quit early, and return to speak with him again until he shares the phrase in Hades.

When you finally obtain the waking phrase, go to the spear’s stand in the House. Equip the spear and then interact with it once more. Doing this will unlock the Aspect of Guan Yu.

Abilities and Effects of the Aspect

The Aspect of Guan Yu alters the behavior of the warrior. It allows you to charge the spear and release a spinning blade. This spinning blade restores one point of health each time it damages an enemy. However, using this Aspect imposes significant drawbacks in Hades.

Your maximum health is reduced, and the overall effectiveness of healing during your run is lowered. Although this Aspect introduces a way to recover health through attacks, it comes at the cost of reduced survivability due to the penalties placed on health and recovery in Hades.
