This guide will show you how to get the Thread Storm Skill. This defense Skill lets you hit all nearby enemies, but it drains your Silk and stops you from healing while it's active. The Skill can be found in Greymoor's Craw Lake area in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Getting to Greymoor

The first place you need to go is Greymoor, which is in the middle of the map. To get to Craw Lake, go all the way to the right side of the area once you get there.

Navigating Craw Lake

As you get closer to Craw Lake, you'll see crows all over the place. You don't have to worry about these enemies as you go through. If you've played the game far enough, you might find Shakra here, but it depends on how far you've played in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Accessing the Skill Area

From the central part of Craw Lake, you can see a door that is initially closed. There are two ways to move forward: you can go around and up or under to get to the other side. As soon as you're done going around, push the button on the far side to open the door and go inside.

Interior Navigation

You'll have to do a few different climbing moves inside the building. First, climb up the first few levels. Then, keep going up until you reach the right side of the area. After that, go up to another location where you'll meet a bird boss in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Bird Boss Encounter

To move on, you have to beat the Bird Boss. Once you've defeated this enemy, find a switch above the boss area and pull it. This lever is significant for the next part of your trip.

Bouncing Ball Mechanics

When you return outside after pulling the switch, bouncing balls will appear throughout the area. You can get to higher levels with these balls, which work like the ones in Hunter's March. You can use these balls to bounce your way out of the area.

Platform Sequence

Hit the spinning balls one after the other to move through the levels. Use the balls to move up and then reach the top of the stage. As you move from platform to platform and hit the balls, you'll move the handles that control the game. This will allow you to proceed to the next part in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Final Parkour Section

To reach the higher parts of the last area, you'll need to perform parkour moves. Move from one stage to the next by bouncing balls. Do this through different ball sequences until you reach the top area. When you can see yourself at the top right of the map, you'll know you're in the right place.

Obtaining Thread Storm

At the very end of this platforming section, you can find the Thread Storm Skill. Check out the Skill Shrine when you get to the last level. There will be text that says, "Daughter of a faraway land who stayed has waited long."

To acquire the Skill, press the bind button, which is typically the B key on controllers or the Circle key on specific systems. Before going back to normal, the screen will flash white and then black. The Thread Storm Skill will connect to your character instantly, so you won't have to stop to rest in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Using Thread Storm

Thread Storm will instantly equip itself once it is obtained. You can check this on your Crest screen by going to the menus—press RB, R1, or the corresponding PC key to use the Skill. The Skill creates a defensive area attack that targets all nearby foes. However, keep in mind that it uses up Silk, so you can't heal while it's active in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
