In Hollow Knight: Silksong, there are three main ways you can deal damage: by using your nail, by using tools like the red tools, and by using Silk Skills. To increase the damage of these abilities, there are many unlockables found throughout the game world. One of these is a tool known as the Volt Filament.

In this guide, I will help you find the Volt Fillament in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
What You Will Need for Finding the Volt Fillament
To get to this tool, you will have to have the dash, cling grip, drifter's cloak, double jump, and clawline ability. In other words, it has all the movement abilities, which means this tool is a mid to late-game unlock.
Along with these, it would be preferable if you have a few good tools that do high amounts of damage with you, as, along with difficult platforming, there is a boss you need to fight at the end to get the tool.
Where You Can Find the Volt Filament
To find the Volt Filament, you need to make your way to the area, Sands of Karak. You will have to make your way to the bench found at the top right of the map. Here, you can rest and save your game, as ahead are some tricky parkour areas that will cause you to lose health.

You have to make your way to the right until you reach a vertical column in the middle of the map. As you head right, you will encounter ground worms that damage you when you hit them. You simply jump and dash over them. As you move forward, you will encounter obstacles that require both your dash and the cling grip ability.
Additionally, enemies will appear from the ceiling. You can dodge them by dashing away, and I suggest that you avoid fighting them, as you want to save your health for the parkour section and the silk you might have for the boss fight.
As you make your way to the right, you will eventually reach a room with two platforms on either side. This is where the vertical column-like section is located. Here, you will have to wall jump up the wall directly above the door you just entered through and make your way to the top.
Once there, you have to jump, climb the line to the right, and cling to a wall on the very top right.
From here, you will have to wall jump until you enter a new section, jump onto the wall on the left over spikes in the ground, and climb up. At the top, you will have to enter a place known as Voltnest through a pink glowing door.
Here, you will notice that everything glows with a violent and dangerous spark. As you move ahead, you will be met with columns of pink lighting that act as obstacles in this area; hitting these columns will result in you losing two hearts. Navigate through these using your dash, clawline, cling grip, and drifter's cloak.
From the start, you will have to navigate to the right while moving up. Use the walls that do not have electrical effects on them and the platform, use your dashes and clawline to pass through the columns of lightning.
Eventually, you will reach a new room. As you proceed, you will encounter a diagonal section of lighting columns. To cross this, you will have to drop the first one and use the drifter's cloak to float until the second one goes out.

After you have dropped, you will find the boss arena on the left. And on the right, you will find a way to make it out of this place safely.
About the Boss Fight
The boss is the Volt wyrm. This boss is very challenging due to its move set and the sheer speed of attacks. Its attacks are based on the lightning seen outside the arena, and some attacks can do two masks of damage.
The boss has only one phase, but has two different types of attacks. Each attack type has a few variants. Firstly, there is the column attack that shoots the same columns you platformed across to get here; they come out in a series of two and vary whether they go out or come inwards.
The second type of attack is the ball of electricity, where a ball of electricity appears and deals damage in a circular area.
This attack involves three variations, which are randomly executed, with the ball sometimes being sent up or down. Second, where it appears in a series either on the ground or in columns. And third, it appears slowly and activates.

For the First type of attack, when the columns are moving in, you have to dash away from the center as soon as the second column dissipates, as there is little to no time to dodge it when the center column appears.
When it is going out, it is the same, but now you have to dash into the center when the second column dissipates if you are on the outside. But if you are near the center, move away from the center column, then dash to the center before the second column appears.
These column attacks themselves do 2 hearts of damage, but if you get hit once, you will likely get hit again. Causing a greater amount of damage. A good suggestion I can make is to collect as many mask shards as possible and unlock as many masks as you can.
To predict the dodge, just keep your eyes open when the columns go down. If you do end up getting hit, you can try to heal when the other type of attack happens.
For the second type of attacks, you need to dodge away from the random variant and stand in an empty spot. In these spots, you can also get a few heals done.
For the variant where they appear on the ground, you can jump onto the walls and use cling grip, or you can use this opportunity to heal while hovering in the air, or you can just glide using Drifter's Cloak. This attack is the easier of the two to dodge.

Whilst these attacks take place, you also have to make sure you get damage into the Volt wyrm, and you do this in the intervals between attacks. I suggest staying patient; don't get greedy by trying to land too many hits, as it will cost you. Just slowly and methodically chip away at its health.
Also, be aware that when you do hit him, you can be damaged by the electric roof, which deals one point of damage. You will have to make perfect jumps, and panicking or rushing this fight will not help.
Finally, after the Volt wyrm is defeated, it will drop the Volt Filament.
About the Volt Filament
The Volt Filament is a blue tool that adds an electric effect to your skill, adding additional damage. This is especially great with the Threadstorm Silk skill, as it gives you multiple hits over a larger area. But it works well with all silk skills.
The tool is great for silk-based builds that use the shaman crest, which allows you to have three silk skills. Through this tool, you can get the highest damage output possible in the game. Making it really good for tanky bosses. Overall, I believe this is a great addition to your arsenal and is worth the effort of obtaining.
