Hollow Knight: Silksong Guide | How to Get Twisted Child Ending
Here's a guide on how to get the Twisterd Child Ending in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

This guide will walk you through one of the game's trickiest plots, which is about the strange Twisted Child and how it is linked to Greyroot.
The life cycle of this creature will be used to teach you about rituals, infections, and the different ways the game can end in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
Understanding Greyroot
You'll meet Greyroot, a Witch who works for a making god or a powerful being like the ones you've seen in your dreams. There's no information about the creature yet, so a lot of what you'll find will involve putting together clues from different places.
It appears that the creature is no longer there; only two places still show signs of its impact, which suggests that its power is almost spent. Greyroot discusses a birth, which could indicate that this is the creature's first appearance in the world in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

However, the quest that involves this thing is called the Rite of Rebirth, which gives it the appearance of the creature's second coming.
The roots you'll find all over these areas must have come from somewhere, and both the Witch and these remains are likely the last signs of the creature's impact.
The Awakening and Ritual Preparation
The Witch remains asleep until Hornet wakes her up, marking the start of the ritual's preparation. When Greyroot is awakened, she begins to catch bugs and lock them up in roots, where the Twisted Child can take their essence and grow.
This process of feeding is significant for the creature's growth and ultimate rebirth in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
Locating the Twisted Child
The Twisted Child can be found in its current form in the bile water area, which is a long way from where the Witch is.
The thing that looks like a nightmare is surrounded by roots. It is near where its last body died and laid an egg for its new body. This place is where the creature's babies are born and where they grow up.

The Infection Process
When you give Greyroot the Twisted Bud, she will catch Hornet because she is the best person for the bud to grow and hatch. The process of infection involves the Hornet getting both the thing and its root system.
Along with the other captured bugs that surround Hornet while she is locked up, Greyroot appears to be giving up her life energy to feed the child in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
The Twisted Child absorbs all the energy from these sources, gaining power that is stronger than Hornet's. Because of this lack of control, Hornet can't get rid of the infection on her own, so she has to ask for help from someone else.
Seeking Medical Treatment
Hornet's search for help takes her to a doctor who was expelled from the capital due to misconduct.
This doctor was probably sent away because she used unusual methods or tools that had been contaminated by people who had been in places with lots of dead bodies and were prone to infections.

There is evidence that she keeps a lot of dead bodies under her desk, which makes me wonder about her professional standards in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
The doctor views getting rid of this rare sickness as an opportunity to prove to those who turned her down how valuable she is.
Hornet agrees to be a test subject for her treatment, but it only works partly. The painful procedure doesn't eliminate the parasite; it merely makes it weaker, allowing Hornet to take control of it.
Living with the Infection
Hornet still has the infection and the entity in her body after the surgery. She does, however, learn how to manage and utilize the root system to drain the life force of others, which is similar to what the Twisted Child and Greyroot could do before.
This enables her to acquire new skills while maintaining the parasitic bond in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Alternative Ending Path
You can choose not to get medical help and instead face the Silk Mother while you are still sick. During this fight, when both Hornet and the Silk Mother are hurt from the battle, the Twisted Bud takes the chance to grow.
The roots go out from Hornet's shell and infect both her and the Silk Mother. This gives the creature two homes for its rebirth process. Following this path, both figures become hosts, and roots cover the entire area around them.
In the end, the creature hatches from both hosts, joining the powers of two pale god-like beings with the ability to control silk.
Since the Silk Mother was already resistant to void effects, this fusion makes a mighty being. That being said, this is the worst possible ending of Hollow Knight: Silksong in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
