This guide explains how to defeat Crater Maker fast. You will learn how his attack cycle works, where to stand, and which abilities help the most. The fight becomes simple once you control his pattern.

Understanding His Attack Cycle
Each round, Crater Maker uses one of four attacks. His attacks rotate when you hit him. The attack he is set to at the end of your turn becomes the move he uses next.
He has these attacks:
A full-screen hit
A single tile instant kill attack.
A diagonal spew that leaves toxic liquid
A front and back charge

The single tile attack will kill a cat in one hit. The diagonal spew leaves poison on the ground. It slows and damages any cat standing in it. The front and back charge hits cats in a straight line when he moves.
Every time you hit him, he also fires projectiles to his left and right sides. These deal damage and apply poison. You can heal and cure poison, but the best solution is simple. Do not stand near his sides.
Avoid his left- and right-hand tiles throughout the fight.
The Main Strategy
The key to this fight is control.
You always want to end your turn with the single tile attack selected as his next move. That attack is easy to avoid if you position correctly. Stay away from the one tile directly in front of him.
Even though he walks forward two spaces and swipes, this is manageable if you keep a distance.

The other attacks are harder to deal with. The diagonal poison limits your movement. The charge can hit multiple cats. The full-screen mode affects your whole team.
So cycle his attacks until the single tile move is active. Then reposition safely.
Recommended Abilities
Long-range, low-cost projectiles are very important. You need them to cycle his attacks without putting your cats in danger.
The Thief works well here. Dart and nail attacks let you hit him from a distance. This helps you rotate his attack cycle safely until you land on the single tile move.
You do not have to use Thief, but you should bring at least one cheap ranged attack. Control matters more than raw damage.

The Hunter is also strong because of the Bear Trap. Bear Trap can stun the boss. When he is stunned, he stops moving and loses his turn. This gives you time to fix positioning.
If you do not use Hunter, bring any stun ability or stun item. Stun gives you breathing room and prevents bad movement patterns.
Safe Positioning
Positioning wins this fight.
Always try to stay two tiles away from Crater Maker. After you cycle his attacks to the single tile move, move all cats into safe zones.
The safest place to stand is diagonal from him. If you stay on a diagonal tile, you avoid the direct single tile attack. You also gain space to move behind him if needed.

If you get cornered, move around him while staying diagonal. This keeps you out of danger while maintaining control.
Never crowd his sides. Remember that every hit you land triggers sideways poison shots.
Using Knockback and Stun
Stun is strong, but knockback also helps.
If you push him, you can control where he stands. This helps you maintain diagonal spacing. It also prevents him from lining up charge attacks properly.
If his positioning becomes awkward, stun him or knock him back. Reset the board. Then cycle back to the single tile attack.

Key Reminders
To defeat Crater Maker, you need to control his attack cycle and your positioning at all times. Always end your turn with the single tile attack set as his next move, since it is the easiest one to manage. Keep your cats positioned diagonally from him and maintain at least two tiles of distance so you can avoid his forward movement and follow-up swipe. Because every strike you land sends sideways poison darts, you should never stand on his left or right side. To safely cycle through his abilities until you find yourself back on the single tile assault, use low-cost ranged attacks. Use stun or knockback to reset the situation and recover control if his position becomes unmanageable.
If you manage his attack rotation and keep clean positioning, this fight becomes steady and controlled.
