Understanding Pokémon types is important when building your team and preparing for battles in Pokémon Legends Z-A. Each type has its own strengths and weaknesses, affecting how much damage your attacks deal or receive.

Knowing how these types interact helps you make effective choices in battles and team composition.
Grass Type
The Grass Type focuses on using nature-based moves. It’s strong against Water, Ground, and Rock types but is weak to Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, and Bug attacks. When you use a Grass Pokémon, you often rely on attacks that involve plants or energy from nature.
Water Type
The Water Type represents aquatic Pokémon and attacks related to water. It performs well against Fire, Ground, and Rock types but struggles against Electric and Grass. Water Pokémon are common and often balanced for both attack and defense.
Fire Type
The Fire Type centers on heat and flames. Fire Pokémon have an advantage over Grass, Bug, Ice, and Steel types but are vulnerable to Water, Ground, and Rock. Fire attacks usually burn opponents or deal continuous damage over time.

Electric Type
The Electric Type delivers energy-based attacks. It’s powerful against Water and Flying Pokémon but weak against Ground. Electric moves are known for their ability to paralyze opponents, which can limit their actions during battle.
Ice Type
The Ice Type focuses on cold-based moves. Ice attacks are effective against Grass, Ground, Flying, and Dragon types but are weak when facing Fire, Fighting, Rock, and Steel. Ice Pokémon often deal precise, direct damage.
Fighting Type
The Fighting Type uses physical strength. These Pokémon perform well against Normal, Ice, Rock, Dark, and Steel types, but are weak to Flying, Psychic, and Fairy moves. You can expect close-range combat moves when using this type.

Ground Type
The Ground Type deals damage through earth-based attacks. It’s effective against Fire, Electric, Poison, Rock, and Steel but weak against Water, Ice, and Grass. Ground Pokémon are immune to Electric attacks entirely.
Poison Type
The Poison Type uses toxic or chemical-based attacks. It works well against Grass and Fairy Pokémon but is weak to Ground and Psychic. Poison moves can also inflict lingering damage through poisoning effects.
Flying Type
The Flying Type includes Pokémon that rely on aerial combat. Flying attacks are strong against Grass, Fighting, and Bug types but are weak to Electric, Rock, and Ice. Many Flying Pokémon also have an advantage through their ability to evade Ground moves.

Psychic Type
The Psychic Type uses mental and telekinetic power. It’s strong against Fighting and Poison but vulnerable to Bug, Ghost, and Dark types. Psychic Pokémon typically focus on high special attack power.
Bug Type
The Bug Type represents Pokémon that rely on quick, repetitive attacks. They’re effective against Grass, Psychic, and Dark types but are weak to Fire, Flying, and Rock. Bug Pokémon are often used for early battles due to their fast growth.
Rock Type
The Rock Type emphasizes durability and power. It’s strong against Fire, Ice, Flying, and Bug types but weak to Water, Grass, Fighting, Ground, and Steel. Rock Pokémon tend to withstand many attacks but move slower than others.

Ghost Type
The Ghost Type uses spectral and spiritual moves. It’s effective against Psychic and Ghost types but weak to Dark. Ghost Pokémons are immune to Normal and Fighting attacks, which gives them unique defensive options.
Dragon Type
The Dragon Type is associated with powerful, ancient Pokémon. It performs well against other Dragon Pokémon but is weak to Ice, Dragon, and Fairy. Dragon attacks are known for dealing heavy damage in a single strike.
Dark Type
The Dark Type focuses on underhanded or tricky combat styles. It’s effective against Psychic and Ghost types but weak to Fighting, Bug, and Fairy. Dark Pokémon often rely on disrupting opponents’ strategies.

Steel Type
The Steel Type is built around metal-based strength and defense. It’s strong against Ice, Rock, and Fairy types but weak to Fire, Ground, and Fighting. Steel Pokémon resist many attack types, offering strong protection in battles.
Fairy Type
The Fairy Type specializes in mystical and magical moves. It’s effective against Fighting, Dragon, and Dark types but weak to Poison and Steel. Fairy Pokémon can counter strong Dragon attacks that other types may struggle against.

Normal Type
The Normal Type features balanced Pokémon with general-purpose moves. It doesn’t have many type advantages but only one weakness—Fighting. Normal Pokémon cannot hit Ghost types with their standard attacks.
