Best base locations in RuneScape: Dragonwilds provide open building space, fishing and resources nearby, low enemy traffic, and protection from regional hazards. Whispering Swamp and Bloodblight Swamp are generally less practical because of their cramped terrain, enemies, darkness, and poison.

Early Base Location

Temple Woods is one of the safest early-game choices. The pond area provides rod and net fishing with plenty of room to expand. Building closer to the starting church further reduces problems with raids.

In Bramblemead Valley, the area near the Wise Old Man and the church offers flat ground, trees, rocks, crops, nearby chests, and easy access to water. Enemy pressure is also relatively low.

Fractured Plains

The waterfall area on the western side of the Fractured Plains offers water, fishing, trees, rocks, and substantial expansion space. Some Garou and wildlife patrol nearby, so defensive walls can block their normal paths into the base.

Stormtouched Highlands

The flatter ground beside the large dragon skeleton is a practical option. It has enough room for a large farm, and the region's constant rain helps with farming. Lightning strikes and nearby Wolves, Rams, and Garou remain the main drawbacks.

Fellhollow

The entrance to Fellhollow in Bleakfields Valley is one of the safer choices. Build near the standing stones or along the nearby waterway for fishing access. Another useful option is the ruined structure north of Hope's Fall, where existing walls can become part of your defenses.

Dowdun Reach

The Courtyard is the strongest general-purpose building area in Dowdun Reach. It provides extensive buildable ground, fishing, a waterfall, farming space, and relatively manageable enemy pressure.

Umbral Sands and Scorned Wilderness

In Umbral Sands, building within an encampment is especially useful because the protected area avoids the Scorch, sandstorms, and most enemy aggression. Nearby oases also provide fishing.

For Scorned Wilderness, permanent construction is restricted to The Hub. The Raid itself does not permit building, so The Hub is the natural location for a regional base and preparation area.

If you want a practical long-term base, look for open terrain, nearby water and resources, low enemy pathing, and protection from the environmental hazards of the region you are in.

FAQ

Q. Can you build anywhere in Dowdun Reach?

A. No. Building is restricted to specific areas, including The Courtyard, which is also one of the most versatile locations in the region.

Q. Why are Umbral Sands encampments good for bases?

A. Their sheltered territory protects you from the Scorch and sandstorms while reducing enemy pressure, with oases often located nearby.
