Unlocking new weapons and martial arts in Where Winds Meet makes combat feel completely different and a lot more fun. Very early in the game, you already get a chance to pick a third weapon, and that choice changes how you will unlock the others later on.

This guide explains how to use the Melodies Of Peace, the Oddities Collection, the Martial Arts menu, Skill Theft, and sects like Midnight Blades and Well Of Heaven so you always know exactly where to go for your next weapon.

Starting Out At Melodies Of Peace And The Oddities Collection

When you first load into the open world, you quickly reach an area with Melodies Of Peace and the Oddities Collection at the top of the map. Here you can choose a third weapon right at the beginning of the game. That early choice matters, because different starting weapons change how soon you can get the others.

If you do not pick Infernal Twinblades and instead choose something like a fan, you will need to unlock Infernal Twinblades later through other methods. The game still lets you obtain every weapon, but some will take more time and require extra steps if they were not selected at the start.

Opening The Develop Menu And Martial Arts Screen

To see all your weapon options, open the main menu and go into the Develop section, or simply press H to jump there directly. In this screen, move to the Martial Arts tab. Here you can view every weapon martial art that can be unlocked.

Select a weapon, and the game shows its paths and details. For example, when you highlight Infernal Twinblades, you see that the basic martial art connected to that slot is Infernal Twinblades itself.

In the lower right corner of the screen, an Obtain prompt appears. When you press the button shown there, you open the obtain screen and see the exact ways to unlock that weapon.

This same pattern applies to all weapons in the game. Any time you are unsure how to get something, return to this menu, select the weapon, and use the Obtain option to see your choices.

Unlocking Martial Arts: Skill Theft Or Joining A Sect

For most weapons, the obtain screen usually gives you two core options. One is Skill Theft, and the other is joining the matching sect.

Skill Theft lets you steal a martial art from someone who already knows it, usually a powerful NPC master. You infiltrate their area, sneak past guards, and then steal the skill at the end of the route. This is a stealth-focused challenge that rewards patience and timing.

The second option is to join that weapon’s sect. For Infernal Twinblades, that means joining the Midnight Blades sect. For Thundercry Blade, that means joining Well Of Heaven.

These paths often take longer but can feel more natural if you like role-playing within a specific sect fantasy and want those sect rewards on top of the weapon.

Tracking Weapons Like The Umbrella And Planning Ahead

Back in the Martial Arts menu, you can do the same thing for other weapons. If you want the Umbrella, select the Umbrella martial art, then choose Obtain. The game will ask you to cancel any current tracking. Once you confirm, it sets the Umbrella as your active objective and shows where to get it.

For the Umbrella, the requirement is to reach Kaifeng before you can unlock that martial art. Because of this, choosing the Umbrella as your third starting weapon can save time later. If you do not pick it early, you simply need to wait until you arrive in Kaifeng and then follow the route the game shows on your map.

The same logic applies to any weapon in the list. If the obtain screen says you must reach a later region or complete certain conditions, you can plan your build around that and avoid wasting time running to the wrong place.

Unlocking Thundercry Blade With Skill Theft Or Well Of Heaven

When you select Thundercry Blade in the Martial Arts menu and press Obtain, the game again shows you how to unlock it. One option is to perform Skill Theft on the master who uses Thundercry Blade. The route for this appears on your map, and you can track it just like any other objective.

Another option is to join the Well Of Heaven sect. By following their entry questline and becoming a member, you can earn access to Thundercry Blade as part of the sect’s rewards. This gives you a tanky, shield-based weapon that focuses on soaking damage and controlling space, which can feel very different from quicker options like Infernal Twinblades.

Whichever path you choose, the obtain screen always acts as your main reference. You can see where to steal the skill and which sect ties into that weapon, then track whichever objective fits your build and playstyle.

How Skill Theft Missions Work

Skill theft missions have a strict ruleset. During Skill Theft, movement arts and lightness skills cannot be used. If patrolling enemies spot you, you are immediately kicked out of the area. Because of this, you must stay hidden the entire time and read enemy patterns carefully.

Each Skill Theft route has its own layout and special conditions. The route designed for Infernal Twinblades works differently from routes used for other weapons.

Some paths require you to assassinate certain guards in order to progress. Other guards can be ignored as long as they never see you. If any of them spot you, you will have to restart from the last checkpoint inside the infiltration area.

Even though the challenges differ, the core idea remains the same. Move slowly, watch patrol routes, wait for the right moment, and quietly remove targets only when necessary.

Infernal Twinblades Skill Theft Route Step By Step

To unlock Infernal Twinblades via Skill Theft, start the tracked mission from the Martial Arts menu so the path appears on your map.

Once you enter the infiltrated area, you come to a point where two enemies patrol and cross paths with each other. Wait until they pass each other before you move. Rushing here will almost always lead to detection.

After they separate, walk around them and move forward carefully. You will come to a door that can be opened from your side. Open this door to create a shortcut. If you get noticed later, this shortcut makes it easier to reach the deeper part of the area on your next attempt.

From there, proceed onward and look for a climbable spot. Climb up to the higher level. You soon reach a ladder that you must climb as well.

Be cautious here because there is an enemy at the top who can spot you very quickly. Move slowly as you reach the top of the ladder, and wait for the moment when that guard looks away before you step out.

Later in the route, you will see another patrolling enemy below you. Watch his position first. When he walks away from your landing spot, jump down behind him, assassinate him quietly, and then climb the ladder nearby to get back to safety and continue forward.

From this point, you can move around the back of the area and even find a chest. Looting this chest is optional. If you do not care about the extra reward, you can skip it and head straight towards the final objective. The chest is not required to unlock Infernal Twinblades.

Keep advancing until you reach another door. Push through this door and then head up to the right. This leads into an arena-like area with a powerful NPC in the middle.

This is the master who holds the Infernal Twinblades martial art. When you reach the marked spot and complete the interaction to steal the skill, the Skill Theft is successful and the weapon martial art is unlocked.

Once that is done, the run is complete and you can move on to setting up the next weapon you want to unlock.

Using Tracking For Other Items, Quests, And Objectives

The tracking system used for weapons does not only apply to martial arts. The same concept works for many other things in Where Winds Meet.

If you see an item in your backpack and want more of it, you can often select it and choose to track where to obtain additional copies. For quests, side objectives, and many other menu entries, you can also use the track function to highlight their locations on the map.

By remembering to open the menu, select the thing you want, and press the track or Obtain option, you always know where to go next. This keeps your progression through weapons, sects, and collectibles smooth and makes unlocking every martial art in Where Winds Meet much easier to manage.
