The best starting weapon choice from the Oddities Collector, essential Mystic Arts like Heavenly Snatch, Meridian Touch, Meteor Flight, and Touch of Death, the healing power of the Panacea Fan and Royal Remedy, and key Internal Arts such as Morale Chant, Sword Morph, Bitter Seasons, and Divine Roulette.
Follow this path and you build a character ready for both early-game leveling and late-game challenges.

Best Starting Weapon for the Where Winds Meet Best Start
Early in Where Winds Meet, the story leads you to the Oddities Collector. After helping him destroy nearby beehives, you return and receive a choice of four Martial Art Weapons: Panacea Fan, Thundercry Blade, Infernal Twinblades, and Vernal Umbrella. This is a rare early selection, so it is important to use it wisely.
The Panacea Fan and Infernal Twinblades are obtainable through other early activities near this region, so this free weapon pick is better spent on a harder-to-acquire option. Prioritize either the Thundercry Blade or the Vernal Umbrella.
Choose Thundercry Blade if you want a tank-style setup with strong frontline presence and solid synergy with early spears.
Pick Vernal Umbrella if you prefer a more technical, mid-range weapon that excels at agile positioning and ranged pressure and is normally more awkward to farm later. Either choice gives your Where Winds Meet best start a strong damage core that stays relevant for a long time.
Mystic Arts Essentials: Heavenly Snatch and Meridian Touch
Your first Mystic Art priority is Heavenly Snatch. Travel to Heaven’s Pier in Qinghe, leave town, cross the bridge, and look to the left side of the road for a group of NPCs and a drunk man. Interact with this drunk NPC and you unlock Heavenly Snatch. It seems simple, but it changes how you interact with the world.
Heavenly Snatch lets you steal items, Internal Arts pages, and Skill Manuscripts directly from NPCs. Some quests and rewards are only available through this theft system, so having Heavenly Snatch early prevents you from missing important gear.
In combat, Heavenly Snatch can disarm enemies and fling weapons back at them, creating stuns and openings that make group fights much safer.
From Heaven’s Pier, move toward Stonewash Strand and continue into the quarry. Inside, you find a village where everyone has turned to stone. At the back, speak to the NPC trapped in place. Freeing him grants you Meridian Touch.
This Mystic Art immobilizes enemies and interacts with special statue puzzles. You use Meridian Touch to lock statues or constructs in specific poses to open secret paths and solve environmental challenges.
Against tougher foes, Meridian Touch removes reinforcement from posture bars, making it possible to stagger enemies whose posture would otherwise never break, and it can interrupt some powerful boss moves when timed correctly
Mount and Movement: Wildmane Ranch and Meteor Flight
Mounts appear very early in Where Winds Meet. You can receive a basic horse from missions or steal one, but a better option is to hunt for a strong mount at Wildmane Ranch north of your starting area.
Approach horses from behind so they do not flee, then start the taming minigame and match the simple directional prompts.
Once tamed, compare stats and traits, keeping a horse with good speed or useful passives and selling weaker ones to the merchant further north for extra income. This makes travel smoother and generates early coin.

Movement truly opens up when you unlock Lightness Skills, especially Meteor Flight. Head west to the lake where the Afterglow side mission takes place. Speak with the fisherman there, complete the Afterglow quest, and you gain Meteor Flight, your first Lightness Skill.
With Meteor Flight, you can launch into the air, fly or glide across long distances, and reposition quickly in or out of combat. If you overshoot a target, you can cancel early by dropping and adjusting your landing, which keeps travel fast but controlled.
Some regions restrict Lightness Skills until you earn specific keepsakes. In Qinghe, you need the Afterglow Pendant, and in Kaifeng, you need a Flight Permit. Both unlock at exploration level four for their regions.
Raise this level by discovering locations, opening chests, completing side quests, and clearing map objectives. Once you hit level four, the relevant item arrives automatically, and Meteor Flight becomes usable again in that area.
Assassination Power: Touch of Death in Verdant Wilds
Before diving into advanced weapons, secure the assassination Mystic Art Touch of Death. Travel to the castle in the Verdant Wilds and start the side mission that appears there. Clear the main courtyard, defeat any bosses, and look for a chest near the arena.
Next to it is a brazier. Light it and then climb the nearby stairs along the wall to find a second brazier. Light that too, and a platform rises in the center.
Jump onto this platform and activate the mechanism to open a passage beneath the arena. Follow the new path until you reach a room with a large statue and a mural showing several symbols.
Study these symbols, then move into the next chamber where a device lets you toggle matching symbols on the walls. Leave only the symbols shown on the mural active, and the final door opens. Inside is a chest containing the Touch of Death scroll and other rewards.
Once learned, Touch of Death allows instant stealth assassinations, often killing standard enemies outright and heavily damaging stronger ones. It is extremely useful for clearing patrols silently and pairs perfectly with future Skill Theft content, where eliminating guards without raising alarms makes runs faster and safer.
Healing Core: Panacea Fan, Royal Remedy, and Dragon Keys
The Panacea Fan is one of the best early-game tools for survival. It is a healing off-hand that stays effective from level 1 through level 60.
You can obtain the Panacea Fan through a faction, but the most efficient route uses a Skill Theft instance near the Oddities Collector. This instance requires a Dragon Key to open.
You earn Dragon Keys from activities like clearing outposts for the first time and completing Skill Theft missions that do not require keys. By around level 8 to 10 and Breakthrough level 2, you should reasonably have at least one Dragon Key.
Spend it to enter the Skill Theft area near the Oddities Collector. Move carefully through the instance, using Touch of Death to remove guards quietly. In the second room, climb the scaffolding until you reach a blue circle.

Stand in it and spy on the martial master wielding the Panacea Fan. Completing this observation unlocks the Panacea Fan Martial Art so you can equip it and heal reliably in combat.
Before you leave, return to the first room. Climb the ladder on the left onto the scaffolding, move into the back area, drop down, clear the enemies, and open the largest chest. This chest contains the Internal Art Royal Remedy.
Royal Remedy amplifies the healing from the Panacea Fan’s water clone, significantly boosting your sustain. The combination of Panacea Fan and Royal Remedy gives you powerful, repeatable healing that reduces your reliance on consumables in every tough fight.
Core Internal Arts: Morale Chant, Sword Morph, and Path Trials
Internal Arts are passive skills that shape your build in Where Winds Meet. One of the strongest early options is Morale Chant. Travel to Blissful Retreat and look to the right side of the road for a merchant.
This merchant sells the ten Morale Chant pages you need for about 5,000 Echo Jade. Because Echo Jade flows in steadily from exploration, you can usually afford Morale Chant soon after reaching this area.
Morale Chant increases your physical damage and adds a stacking healing effect, making it useful on almost any weapon setup. To power it up, you need Morale Chant notes. Check the acquisition hints inside the Internal Arts menu to see sources.
A merchant south in Kaifeng sells notes for roughly 200 Echo Jade each, and generic Internal Art Note Chests from enemies, bosses, and general content can randomly drop notes for Morale Chant and other arts.
Through the Tips Exchange system, you can recycle unwanted notes into special booklets and use them to buy more Tome Chests, essentially rerolling for the notes you want most.
Do not ignore Path Trials. Each Path Trial tracks simple build-related tasks such as upgrading gear. Hitting milestones at 12 and 18 completed tasks awards bundles of Internal Art notes, usually five per milestone.
This is enough to push a key Internal Art like Morale Chant or Royal Remedy through at least one breakthrough and noticeably raise your power.
If you favor the Nameless Sword, unlock Sword Morph early. Open the Internal Arts menu, select Sword Morph, and use the hint to find its associated side mission.
Completing that mission grants the Sword Morph Internal Art, which upgrades the Nameless Sword’s charged heavy. Instead of a single energy wave, it releases multiple sword energies at higher charge levels, dramatically increasing burst damage against bosses and elites.
Advanced Power: Gleaming Abyss, Bitter Seasons, and Divine Roulette

Finally, head southwest to the cave complex Gleaming Abyss to secure two of the best leveling Internal Arts, Bitter Seasons and Divine Roulette. At the entrance, three statues stand before a sealed door. Wait until the statues settle into place, then use Meridian Touch on each one to freeze them. When all three are immobilized correctly, the door opens.
Inside, progress until you hit a blocked main path and a sealed smaller route. Three stag-like ghosts appear as a trial. Speak to the first ghost on the left. For the second, cross to the far side near the water where two NPCs stand beside two lantern braziers.
Burn the branches behind them to open a passage, follow it, and complete the ghost interaction there. For the third, use the jumping platforms to reach a wall opening into a side cavern, then follow the rising path to another ghost and finish the final trial. A coffin then transports you to a hidden area.
In this new chamber, you must assemble a stag skull. Find the first skull piece near a side chest. Move deeper until you encounter a bridge guarded by two enemies. After defeating them, look across to a ledge blocked by branches.
Burn the branches so a plank falls to form a bridge, cross it, continue along the path, and collect the remaining antlers, making sure to interact with the skull fragments near the ghostly figures. When you have all three parts, return to the back wall and place the complete stag skull to unlock the final area and a boss fight.
This boss is repeatable using Daily Energy for extra gear, but the first defeat is the most important. On that first kill, the boss drops the Divine Roulette tome, unlocking the Divine Roulette Internal Art.
After a successful deflection, Divine Roulette has a chance to grant one of three powerful buffs: increased damage for your next skill, a guaranteed critical hit, or a guaranteed affinity hit for roughly ten seconds, on a short cooldown of about thirty seconds. If you deflect consistently, your damage spikes regularly.
After the boss, pass through the fog wall to reach the far side of the area. You can explore to the right for lore, but for your main reward, turn back and follow the left path. This leads to a house overlooking the river. Inside is a chest containing Bitter Seasons.

This Internal Art inflicts a damage-over-time poison and reduces enemy physical defense while it lasts, making long fights and boss encounters much easier.
Combined with Morale Chant, Divine Roulette, Bitter Seasons, your weapon-specific arts like Sword Morph, and your toolkit of Heavenly Snatch, Meridian Touch, Meteor Flight, Touch of Death, Panacea Fan, and Royal Remedy, you lock in a complete Where Winds Meet best start that carries smoothly from early game into the most demanding content.
