Leveling weapons in World War Z: Aftermath can feel slow, especially when you are chasing newer unlocks like the Defender SMG and cosmetics such as the Gunsmith Frame. A faster method comes from stacking the right Mutators, choosing a smart class setup, and using a mission section that can spawn an infinite horde.

This guide walks through the exact approach in Moscow 1: A Sign from Above so you can farm weapon spawns, earn weapon XP, and end runs in a controlled way to lock in progress.

Why Moscow 1 Is a Strong Weapon XP Farm

Moscow 1: A Sign from Above offers many weapon spawn points and a section that can become an infinite horde as long as a key objective is not activated. This makes it easier to pick up different primaries and secondaries, then farm kills for weapon XP in one place. Running on Easy also keeps the route safe and quick.

Best Mutators to Force More Weapon Spawns

Set up All Flash, No Bang to increase scattered primary and secondary weapons across the level. Add Small Pharma so medical items do not spawn. Add Looter so equipment bags do not spawn. These two choices reduce non-weapon loot, which helps push more spawns toward weapons instead.

Class and Loadout Setup to Improve Crate Results

Use Gunslinger for this setup. Start with a Heavy Machine Gun and keep it at full health. Keep full equipment, and hold a Tier 1 primary. This approach is used to influence what crates roll into, because crate results depend on what is being held and where the crate is located.

When a crate is opened while holding a Tier 1 weapon, the chance of getting a Tier 2 weapon becomes much higher. When a Tier 2 is held, the chance of a Tier 3 becomes much higher, though early crates may still refuse Tier 3 results.

A second gun, like a PDW or Compact Shotgun, will also work well. This path is all about moving quickly, looting safely, and then farming a lot when you get to the endless horde area.

Early Route and Key Pickups

Move through the early area while watching for weapon spawns. A Virus Sample matters in this method because it helps end the run through infection when you are ready to bank XP. The mission has multiple spawn points for Virus Sample pickups, so checking common spots early can pay off.

Along the way, you may find secondaries such as a Machine Pistol and other quick upgrades. Keep moving forward, since the main value comes from reaching the weapon-dense rooms and the infinite horde section.

Crates, Weapon Walls, and the Defender SMG Roll

In the weapon-heavy rooms, crates and wall spawns can provide several Tier 2 options, and sometimes a Tier 3 if luck hits. Expect finds like the Chainsaw, Crossbow, and other upgrades. Once a new weapon is found, keep it in mind as the “farm target” for the infinite horde section.

If you are aiming for more Tier 3 weapons, it helps to hold a Tier 2 before opening a crate in the later part of the run. Location still matters, but the held weapon tier can increase the odds.

Reaching the Infinite Horde Farming Spot

After the first part, push toward the next area where the horde can become infinite. This spot stays infinite as long as the first control panel is not activated. Avoid touching the first panel so the horde never ends, then farm as long as needed.

You can continue to open boxes, check for weapon spawns, and cycle guns here. Right now is also a good time to get another Virus Sample because this area has a reliable spawn.

Fast Weapon XP While Farming Kills

Focus on steady kills with the weapon you want to level. Gunslinger can help maintain momentum because headshots can support sustained firing. If a weapon levels slowly due to a low fire rate or downtime, use a delayed explosive approach. Fire a heavy weapon shot that has travel time, then swap to the weapon you want to level before the explosion lands. When the explosion gets kills, weapon XP can be credited to the weapon currently held.

This swap method is especially useful with heavy options like the MGL and Multi-shot Rocket Launcher, and it can also work with the RPG when there is enough delay to swap safely.

Ending the Run to Bank XP

Weapon XP is gained once the mission ends, either by completion or by everyone going down. Going down on Easy can take time, so the controlled method is to use the Virus Sample. Let enemies break it so infection starts, then wait for infection to finish the run.

A Lurker pounce can help, or repeated hits can break the Virus Sample faster. An Infector spit can also cause problems, but it may be harder to manage if allies eliminate it too quickly.

Extra Options for Targeted Weapon Spawns

If you want a certain type of weapon, you might want to look into mutators that force loadouts. If you start Crossbow Fiesta, you are locked to a crossbow. Shotgun Fiesta only lets shotguns be used for main and secondary finds. It comes with a Repeating Rifle and a Revolver when you start Wild West. When a focused leveling process is more important than variety, these can be helpful.

For more weapon drops from specials, a perk like Bad Odor can be an option, since it can help generate extra weapon pickups during fights.
