Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 announcement trailer released

The announcement of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will hardly come as a surprise. With the otherworldly commercial success of the series' more recent installments, everyone expected Activision to continue the Modern Warfare saga until this cow runs out of milk.
The release of the first teaser trailer confirms this, as the arcade shooter franchise is set to delve even deeper into the 'oh no, evil Russians are attacking the US' premise that was developed over the course of the first two Modern Warfare games. We are informed that the 'US mainland is under attack' and hear a Russian voice saying something about destroying the enemy's hope. It is unknown whether Nanosuits are involved.

This is a bad guy. I can tell from some of the pixels and from having seen quite a few bad guys in my life.
While it might be remotely interesting to see if the 3 development studios working on the title will be able to come up with a single player campaign that actually lasts longer than an average visit to the lavatory, the teaser is a worryingly early starting sign of the inevitable Call of Duty hype that has been going around for the last couple of years in the months preceding November.
So prepare to drown in CoD publicity soon enough, or come over to the dark side of elitist PC fanboys while you still can. We have beer.
