Cataclysm sets PC sales record, sits at #3 on UK charts

There is a new title-holder as the fastest-selling PC game of all time.
Well, sort of new.

It's official: Really big dragon = Really big sales
In a press release, Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. reported today that Cataclysm, the third expansion to the ridiculously popular World of Warcraft, sold 3.3 million copies in 24 hours, setting a new record for PC game sales. The previous record holder was Wrath of the Lich King, which was the second World of Warcraft expansion in 2008, selling 2.8 million copies in its first day. According to the press release, the World of Warcraft subscriber base had already exceeded 12 million players prior to Cataclysm's launch.
Still, the Cataclysm craze could not unseat Call of Duty: Black Ops as the #1 game in the UK all-formats software chart. FIFA 11 also held on to its #2 spot, with Cataclysm making its entry at #3 for the week ending December 11th, 2010, knocking Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood down one spot to #4.
Keep in mind that the Chart-track's figures only report retail sales, not digital downloads, which is the vehicle that Cataclysm rode to its record-setting feat.
