Call of Duty: Warzone Removes Standard Verdansk Battle Royale as Black Ops Royale Launches

People are mad that Activision got rid of normal Verdansk battle royale while they tested bots in some places.

The situation is about to change in a big way, and some people don't like it. The new Warzone update includes a new mode called Black Ops Royale. When it came out, it was meant to make people feel both excited and nostalgic. Instead, it has made some players uncertain and stressed. Fans now have a simple question about the change that was supposed to be exciting: why change the core experience so much?

A lot of players think that the mode, called Black Ops Royale, is a lot like the old Blackout mode from older Call of Duty games. Warzone’s Battle Royale and Resurgence playlists have been popular in recent seasons, but the new playlist is a little different in how it lets you play.

However, excitement around the new mode faded quickly after controversial playlist decisions were announced. The normal battle royale experience will not be available on the Verdansk map for a short time when the game first starts. What will be the main style of competition instead? Black Ops Royale has only four players. The only way to play Verdansk in a typical battle royale style is with a casual mix.

The casual playlist includes AI-controlled bots.

They are already there in the relaxed modes of the game to make fights easier and less stressful. These modes have helped players finish tasks quickly, try out new weapon builds, or just relax. But now that the normal battle royale mode is gone, gamers who like to play competitive games with real people may not have many options.

Players who want to avoid bots will be pushed toward Black Ops Royale if they want to play with other people. Even though revival modes are still going to be around, they will be very different from regular battle royale modes because they move faster.

Some people have taken a second look at this move. When freedom of choice is important, taking away a main mode, even for a short time, is seen as a risky move. Some people believe that the new mode should have been shown first in the stream, but everyone should have been able to use the other modes too.

There are still changes. The test will begin about a week after the new mode comes out. At first, it will only affect a few places, mostly in the Middle East and some parts of Europe.

The test is built on tests that help people find matches in their area. The folks who develop games say they want to find out more about how bots can help make games better and fairer for all players. The comments from the community and the test data will be combined to choose whether the feature should get even bigger.

Not everyone is glad about the news, though.

A lot of people who have watched the show for a long time think that battle royale has always been about real people fighting against each other. The thrill of surviving a lobby full of real players, who are also playing the game, has long been what makes battle royale games what they are. If some of those opponents were AI, it might not matter as much to win.

Another thing that worries people is the reason for the hearing. Sources in the community say that some people believe the test may have something to do with keeping rooms full in places where there aren't many players. Bots could help games start on time if it takes too long to find matches. But players could also be angry if they think the change hides bigger problems, like fewer players or players not being spread out evenly across areas.

It's been interesting to talk about the times of the changes as well. Black Ops Royale was said to be one of Warzone's biggest changes of the year, so fans were looking forward to a fun start that would get everyone excited. Some players, on the other hand, think that the playlist lines are not necessary.

Still, the change could be good.

The chance to play an old game again might be enough to get a lot of people to do so. The people who develop games seem to be betting that Black Ops Royale's popularity will simply bring people to the new mix. Giving one game their full attention during launch week, they may hope to get busy waiting areas that are full of people.

That plan does, however, cross a thin line. What kinds of groups can you play with? What kinds of maps can you play on? There are a lot of different ways to play battle royale games. People get very angry very quickly when they can't play the way they want to. The people who made it say that the goal is still to give all players the best game experience possible.

Based on what was learned during the test period, bots, tracks, and regional matchmaking will likely be changed in the future. For now, this is still just an experiment. As of right now, the first part of the update will be sent out everywhere.

However, the bot test will begin later and only in some places. More people will be very interested in how the method works because of this. There might be long-term changes to how Warzone handles lobby sizes and matching if the test goes well. What if it doesn't work? The people who made it might have to change their minds and make more regular mixes.
