Dead Space 2 to Start Development in the Coming Months
News by David on Oct 01, 2009
Dead Space Extraction for the Nintendo Wii has just been released yesterday, and right away there is already news surrounding a direct sequel for Electronic Arts’ thrilling survival horror shooter game, Dead Space. For Dead Space 2, it has been confirmed it will be in development in the coming months, with Visceral Games handling the game’s development.
A recent job listing has just popped up, and Visceral Games is looking for a Lead Combat & Controls Designer for this project. EA has also confirmed that a follow-up game for the original Dead Space will be in development shortly after. So far, Visceral is focusing only for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and not on the PC, because the first installment was met with disappointing sales numbers. The job listing also says that “The game is in the later stages of preproduction, ready for production in the next few months,” and many of the navigational and combat mechanics will still be in place."
Which means that the same elements incorporated in the original Dead Space will return in the sequel. The listing also confirmed that the “core team” that worked on the first one will also be on board for the sequel’s development. Expect more news on Dead Space 2 from Electronic Arts and Visceral Games in the near future.
