FF XIII Expected to Sell 6 Million

Final Fantasy XIII, Square Enix’s biggest project to date, has not even been released yet. But Square Enix is very confident that this role-playing game will sell 6 million units worldwide. The company is expecting publishers such as Eidos and Double Helix to sign development deals to expand their repertoire, trying to pull away from making just Japanese games in general, and trying to move on by releasing Western-based games in the country as well.

According to Square CEO Yoichi Wada, he stated that Square Enix will soon make its way to the Chinese online gaming market, and will attempt to appeal to gamers in that area, and not just in the Western regions. Wada says that this action will help the company’s profits double in the following years, raising the bar possibly to ¥50 billion (or $554 million) in a maximum of 5 years.

With the game already have a set release date (December 17), plus a Lighting PS3 Slim bundle, exclusively in Japan, there is no doubt Final Fantasy XIII will sell high in its home country. Square is expecting the game to profit in the North American and European regions as well, when it is released sometime around the Spring of 2010.
