One of Square Enix's longest running franchises, the Front Mission series, have always been known for its mech, turn-based strategy. Suddenly, Square decided to choose Double Helix Games to develop the latest Front Mission installment. With that, Double Helix made the transition from strategy to a full-on, mech third-person shooter experience. The publisher has also recently announced that Front Mission Evolved will arrive in stores around the spring of 2010. It will be available for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and the PC.

To add more to its third-person shooter action, players will also be able to customize their wanzer mechs for combat. This feature also factors in multiplayer battles of the game, where players can engage in competitive matches against others.

Front Mission Evolved takes place roughly 50 years after Front Mission 5. Mankind has pushed space exploration to the limit via orbital elevators and, once again, faces war. A new terrorist organization has made itself well known to the public by demolishing a number of these elevators. You play as engineer Dylan Ramsey, and his priority mission is to pursue the terrorists and stop their plans of destruction. But with a deteriorating alliance between nations, it will be a difficult mission to tackle.
